I hope that my soon-to-be Russian bride will be my life long mate and partner, but we all know things can turn out bad. So, I wonder if I get married in Russia, can I file for divorce in the USA?

If it is a legally binding marriage, yes, of course. Have an apostille made of your Russian certificate of marriage (Свидетельство О Заключении Брака) to prove the exsistance of the marriage.

Some states do NOT require proof of marriage to file for divorce. Texas is one of those states. No marriage certificate needed, no apostile.

You get a divorce in the place having jurisdiction over the residence of either party to the marriage.

Lots of married people there from the FSU and an immigration attorney who posts from time to time. The USA must recognize your foreign marriage if they approve to let your wife in on a k-3 and you should be able to get a divorce wherever you live.
