Maybe it wasn't meant to be offensive but referring to children and young adults who participate in Special Olympics as retarded is what offends me - they should NOT be referred to as retards, retarded, or other such derogatory adjectives. I have taught and still do teach children with handicaps over the last 13 years and I've learned a lot from these special kids. I could care less how famous said image is. The person who posted this comment could have used different wording. The mentally handicapped should not be the butt of every joke or used as analogies for the immaturity of others. That includes internet immaturity.

Maybe you and others should volunteer to help out with the Special Olympics next time they occur in your area. It's possible one might learn a thing or two from these special kids. :)
