Hi all. This separation is taking a toll on my wife. Our relationship is still great and strong, we just miss each other terribly, as i'm sure a lot of people can relate to. However, I have decided with my wife that if her application is still pending with USCIS or possibly NVC by January then I am going to take a leave of absence from work and "move" to Peru for a month or two to be with her during this time. Question is, how will this affect my application if it progresses through USCIS or through NVC if I am overseas? Can I complete all the NVC paperwork at the embassy or register with the embassy when I am there to have any updates or information forwarded to my Peru address? Just wondering just in case I do decide to go to Peru in Jan/Feb next year if the papers still are pending here. Thanks in advance

You are in a rare circumstance with the petition (It's a petition you have pending, not an application.) in the hands of a local office. It is not possible to predict what they might want to communicate with you about before completing the adjudication. At minimum, you'll need to find a way to get your mail, in case they ask for something. If they do and you don't respond, they may well consider your petition abandoned.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

good call pushbrk. i just wish i knew why it was transferred to. its like you said, the transfer of a petition to a local office is rare for adjudication, and i'm wondering why in the world they would do that. well, hopefully i can get some answers in a few days when i go meet with an immigration officer at my local office. i'm hoping to head off any possible delays by bringing more evidence with me and asking a lot of questions

I think that the only thing you can do is have somebody check your mail for you and call you or forward to you what USICS or NVC will send you. I think that pushbrk misread your post. I don't think that you can register to the embassy for a short period of time and it's not even enough for DCF... so try to find someone to forward all the possible info
