Just got my NOA in the mail.

The last paragraph said:

"You will be notified of the date and place of your interview when you have been scheduled by the local INS office. You should expect to be notified withing 248 days of this notice."

:crying:

I'm just curiouse if those that have been a citizen first NOA said the same thing.

That's like 8 months, I can't wait that long. What am I gonna tell my fiance? Should we just get married and file the I-130 or wait it out?

I suspect that it will be much sooner, but the difference between yours and my DAH's is strange....

His NOA quoted 180 days. His fingerprint notice was generated 6 days after the NOA, for an appt 3 weeks later. We're also going through Portland OR.

Portland has been running at 6 months total processing for quite awhile now.

Hang tight for a week or so before making any decisions?

It's good to have some body from the same area that knows about it more. I just got off the phone with my cousin, he just got his citizenship recently and he said that his NOA also said within 248 days. So that's a relief. Yeah I also remember reading somewhere on the thread that it could take up to six month, that what got me worried about that 248 days thing. hope it's good, hope it's good.

heheh.. we study every day now, just in case!

From observation, it seems they are generating the fingerprint notice as soon as they get your application; many people get the FP appointment within a month of their NOA.

I was explaining to my hsuband last night tho, that the 180 days is not a guarantee and the FP letter does not mean that it's 'his turn'. It could be 2 weeks, 4 weeks, or 4 months before he gets called for an interview.

The only other interesting thing I found out on our last visit downtown is that IF you get an 'early' interivew slot, you can get a same-day oath ceremony (I think they're at 2pm). If not, you can come the next day (?) <---- I'm not 100% clear on this one. I believe they're done in the courtroom upstairs.

It would've been neat to get in on the big Natz oath ceremony that they do on the opening day of Cinco de Mayo (May 5), but alas, we delayed. It will still be a great 4th of July this year!

Say, on filing your I-130---did you decide against filing it as a PR and upgrading? oh, duh, you're not married yet. Hopefully NSC will kick butt with your I-129f!

I am from just over the river in WA - my oath ceremony is next week up in Seattle - yay!!

It took 4 months from start to finish, and my NOA too 284 days.

Hang in there!! I heard too that Portland have a same day oath ceremony if you are approved early enough in the day!

Well my wife submitted her application last October and her swearing in is next month. We contacted our Senator's office twice for assistance. Once to find out when an interview was going to be held and once to find out what was going on after the interview had been held. Now was it just a coincidence that the interview was scheduled and application approved right after we contacted our Senator, but I would say thats the route to go if you think things are taking too long and you can't get a straight anwer out of CIS.
