Good Morning!

Couldnt sleep last night so we had suhoor at 2 am. woke up again just before fajr and now away again. Look like there is a nap in my future

Not sure how many are fans, but Little Mosque on the Prarie's new season begins October 3rd. I watched the whole first season on You tube and loved it. http://www.cbc.ca/littlemosque/

last night I was upset and ate myself into a chocolate coma.... I slept through the alarm to wake up for suhoor I didnt get to have coffee, food or a allegry/ cold med Today is gonna be a rough day.. I feel a headache coming in and I dont feel like fasting Its rainy... cold.. and a perfect day to snack all day........

UGH I hate when I don't wake up for suhoor not so much for the food but for my pain meds and allergy meds, etc. I forgot twice so far (i started fasting a week earlier to make up for last year) and my whole day was toast. Hang in there a little more than 7 hours left. Just take it a minute at a time and look at each suffering as a blessing. I know that's hard but it's been really working for me.

Last night I decided to fix my broken toilet myself. The flapper chain which was plastic was broken so for the past five days I've had to open and close it manually, which obviously is a pain in a house of three with one bathroom. Went to home depot and got a new flapper for $5 and came home to do the repair. I had to use scissors to get the old chain thingie out and I cut my left index finger instead. I honestly thought I'd need stitches and I broke down hysterically in tears. I cried for like two hours. That was after I found the mound of bugs in the soup I had just made 'cause the rice I had bought was infested with little winged bugs. I ended up crying myself to sleep. I don't know why. I think I was stressed but was holding it in and cutting my finger with the scissors was the straw that broke the camel's back. Fasting all alone sucks. I"m not complaining about the fasting but I feel I am missing out on a big part of this season by not having anyone to have iftar with, you know?

I asked my girls if they would like to join me and I offered that they could do a half day only one day out of the whole month. The reaction was really strange. They both blocked their ears and went "lalalala---not listening!!". When they stopped I asked why and they shouted WE'RE NOT MUSLIM AND WE NEVER WILL BE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have no idea where this is coming from. I mean I thought I've been setting a good example and I have left subtle hints around like putting the magazine Muslim Girl on the coffee table, etc. I don't know where this huge hatred of my religion is coming from. They don't ever watch the news so they're not getting fed via that. The only thing I can think of is their dad and if that is the case then I'm gong to be livid. I was really hoping that they would do a half day and maybe even wake up before fajr with me to keep me company.

I am feeling sad today.

I'm right there with you... It is tough doing it by yourself.. fasting etc.. if I ever get my house back to a normal soon I'd love for you to come have iftar with me

I didnt think I was gonna make it today... Especially cause I was at a fair... with fried dough and other foods floating through the air... Free bowls of macaroni and cheese it looked SOoooooooooooooooooooooooooo GOOD! Free cake... BUT i've made it.. I've got 43 more minutes to go...

and your Girls are Tween's right??? its all part of the age.......

If I ruin one more recipe I'm gonna scream. I made basboosa just now and it was apparently hard as a rock per my daughter so I just dumped it I even went to the halal store to get the semolina and everything. I don't know what I did wrong. After it came out of the oven I poured the syrup that I made on it and then I guess it hardened like concrete. I told her that in Egypt it's nice and moist and sugary.

My youngest is having a friend sleepover and for fun they're making cinnabon muffins though so at least there will be something sweet to eat after dinner.

Amal I don't know why but the thirst isn't bothering me much lately. I'm used to it. Maybe 'cause I'm up north?

Oh I found leb at the halal store just like they have in Egypt!!! I'm sooo happy I found that store! The butchery part was a lil scarey 'cause it was crowded and I didn't know what to do so I didn't get anything.
