I would hardly say it is blood money, if you want to have a go at somebody have a go at 1) the owners of these horses,2) the trainers of them 3) the jockeys who ride them and 4) the organisors of this event.

There are not only people like you who do not like animals to be hurt, neither do I but until the people who make millions, bookies included from this sport, it is no good having a go at people like me who have a bet.

if a horse does have to be put down because of injury it certainly does reach the paper's, so please go take your insults elsewhere.

I agree with you about the horse owners, the trainers, the jockeys and the organizers, but please dont be hypocritical by saying you dont like animals to be hurt and placing a bet is doing nothing wrong. By placing a bet you are supporting the horse racing and putting money into these peoples pockets regardless of whether you have won or not. If people didnt place bets then there would be no money to be made in horse racing and therefore the grand national wouldnt exist. Its great that you have won some money but you have won that money on the expense of animals being exploited and that is nothing to be proud of.

1) I am not hypocritical, as I said I do not like animals hurt, just because I have a bet once a year does not make me one. No matter how much you protest about the National you will not get it stopped, and it is not the race that is in question, it is the size of the jumps and the amount of horses they allow to race that is the problem. You can put your protest in to the organisers and to Aintree , now I wonder if you have done that??? I have!!.

I am not "proud" as you put, I am made up that the horse I picked won, he ran a superb race and deserved his win. These horses are not treated cruelly, they are given the best and are exercised under strict conditions, my goodness most of them even have swimming pools to exercise in. I should imagine that you are even against dog racing!!

Now if you were talking about he cruelty to the chimps in Spain, the bears in parts of Turkey and other area's, the killing of endangered species in Africa, India etc, then I am in full agreement on that.

If you wish to "discuss" this further would you pm me I do not like getting into arguments on this site. thanks

I really dont want to get into any arguements because I really am a peaceful person, so please dont get me wrong. I purely wanted to state that there is so much cruelty in all of these animal racing sports, including dog racing, and the general public are generally not aware of it, or they are ignorant to it. I know these horses get the best treatment and they are well loved by thier owners, I just dont agree with animal exploitation for money thats all. Lets end it like that.
