Is the K1 Process Flowchart on VJ accurate? I'm not sure what order I need to do things in when I get the Visa. What do I apply for first? Married?, SSN?, Driver's License? AOS? Can someone please share there experience.

Keep in mind that some state DMVs (like PA, where I'm going) won't issue a driver's license until you receive your SSN regardless of whether you are applying during your K1 status or your AOS status. Hell, I've heard that some states won't allow you to get a marriage license until you have a SSN.

Bee and I are most likely going to get married within two weeks of my POE, so we'll probably do this route:

Marriage license ---> marriage ---> AOS ---> SSN ---> DL/bank/others

Our approach is will be the same. Getting married (tentively Nov 24) about 1.5 weeks after POE and then we'll go from there. I don't drive myself, so not worried about the DMV for now. I'm interested in unpacking, finalizing the wedding plans and then off we go!

YAY honeymoon @ a Virginia mountain cabin :D

Is anyone else out there going batty over trying to plan a small wedding and get the details right? I'm not sure if it isn't more complicated to have something small and intimate then something big....everyone knows the spiel about big church, big hall, lots of drinks and people blah blah...but planning for small and intimate takes on a whole knew lvl of attention to detail.

Family & friends were originally slightly taken aback by the fact that we don't want to wait too long before getting married, but for us it's a matter of logistics and money and we want to get the AOS process started!

Anyhoo - cheers folks

I thought that if you requested during your interview that you could get a temporary SSN for 60 or 90 days while you apply for the permanent one?

I just noticed you have the same interview date in Montreal as I do........:)!! You are right about getting married right away. That's what we plan on doing so we can get the AOS process started too. We plan on a ceremony in Florida in March 2008. But for now it will just be city hall.
