Hi there,

I hope I am posting in the right forum. I figure most people for this forum are already in the States! So question for you: How many of you were actually asked for your chest xray at the POE? Did you carry it in your hand bag or check it in with your luggage?

Are you supposed to give them the xrays in addition to the sealed envelope?

Thanks for your help!

Bring it with you yes. Will you be asked for it, almost certainly not. I doubt that a border patrol agent could read it anyway. My wife's is slowly gathering dust, never having seen the light of day since her medical last year.

I absolutely agree. I know of no one who was ever asked for the X-ray, but since the instructions state that it has to be carried, it should be carried (unless you choose to take the risk of actually being asked for it and not having it, it's totally up to you, of course)

I did ask the immigration officer "do you need my X-ray?" and held it up to him, and he was pretty shocked and told me to give it to my doctor :D

Ok, thanks! That is what I figured. The POE officer is probably going to tell you to go take it to a medical professional. And you are right, the xrays are so clunky to carry and I know they won't fit in the small roller bag that will be the carry on luggage.

Sounds like putting it in the checked in baggage will fine.

Thanks for the input.

They won't ask for them but don't throw them away. If you get an RFE for another medical exam, you can use your X-ray. Saves a few dollars.

Roll it up and put it in a cardboard mailing tube -- makes it very portable. Just make sure you don't bend or crease it.
