Hi,

I received my Visa on the 12th day after my interview in Frankfurt, Germany. My fiancee was really worried too, since it was taking much longer than anybody had written. Just try to be patient. I gotta say though, those few days were dang nerve wrecking awaiting the mail every single day for nothing.

Thanks Happy and John. Yes we are both bouncing off the ceiling. Now we are working on flight arrangements.

I have been working for several weeks on the house and hope to have some projects done and have it spick and span when she arrives but if she is like most RW she will find dirt in places I never thought to look.

John, I definately hope yours is faster than ours was. Most everyone is. I heard some real horror stories from others in A/R when we were going through it and as disappointing as our A/R was it could have been a lot worse.

Make sure you clean on top of your ceiling fans, any air intake grates, along the baseboards, in the little crevices of the refridgerator, behind the base of the toilet and seat, under/behind your major appliances, under your sofa, behind your T.V./entertainment center, and around the entrance to your door and any walkways.

Basically, everywhere, to include the cracks and crevices, under and behind it all, and don't forget to scrub the floor with a towel and some hot soapy water.

Swiffers are for amateurs.

(Dwayne and I had a good laugh at how we were required to "vacuum the driveway" and various other forms of cleaning prior to guests arriving.)

Gosh, I wish I could trade places with all of you with visa in hand; I have just started this process, expect the check to be cashed next week, maybe NOA1 by end of week and NOA2 maybe in Jan or Feb 2008. God, that is so far away and she is so far away.

But on the brighter side, I have purchased a new "old house" and plenty to do; need to build a fence for her dog, find some used furniture so the house looks nice but not empty (we will get new when she is ready), get a refrigerator, washer and dryer, hang some pictures on the walls so the place looks nice (to be changed when she arrives), etc. The place is newly remodeled so it is pretty clean, need to keep it that way.

Good for you. My guy hasn't even rented anything yet and my interview is in 3 weeks. He says rental agreements in NC normally start on Dec. 1 so I have to wait until the end of November to enter. :(

Thanks happy guy. I appreciate the nice words. I was a little worried for a few days. She had been sick and did not seem to be getting better. I suggested moving her arrival day back because I thought it would be hard on her traveling when she did not feel good. Perhaps the thought of not comming on the 12th perked up her immune system. Today she seems much better and anxious to be here.

John, In a few months there will be lots of guys who wish they would able to trade with you in the visa process.

Blues, That is one I never heard of. Most rental units are available as soon as they are free. Landlords don't like to have a money machine sitting and not generating the mortgage payments. Perhaps he has a particular apartment in mind that won't be free until then but as far as that being the way they do it in N.C. I would say definately not. Why don't you post that at the other place and see if the others agree with me. BF, you are a really great gal but I worry about you a little.

The explanation he gave was that in the Reseach Triange area, many students are moving out by the end of November so the choice of available houses is better and cheaper and the likelihood of getting a good deal is higher if one waits to rent until Dec. 1.

Ah, OK. I think the reality of it is that you have a bit of a nervous fiance Blues but I think he also knows he has one of the most special women he could dream of and the nervous stage will pass once you are here. I think you will be fine. I think it is just a continuation of the other problem that you were able to get resolved to both your satisfactons.

My take on the reality of his explaination is that here the academic year generally runs from late August to around the end of May. There is a break of about 3 weeks from mid December to Early January and it is unusual for the students to give up thier housing for that period. There are a very small minority of students who finish their studies and graduate in Mid December but it is small. There are also a few who drop out at that mid December point do to various reasons. The availability of apartments in an area with many students may have a very slight increase at that time but I think it would be very slight. It is probably no big deal and not enough to worry about all that much. The time will pass and you will soon be here with him and I am sure you two will be very happy together.
