Our EAD processing date has been updated on case status...

My husband just woke me up to show me that his "Last Updated" date for his EAD has been changed to April 8! I'll take that as a good sign. But, it still says, "Your I765 APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION was received on January 27, 2006. We mailed you a receipt with information about processing. It is taking between 30 and 90 days for us to process this kind of case. We will mail you a decision as soon as processing is complete."

So what should we be thinking here? I know that sometimes applications just get "touched" (it's funny to use that word now after the whole DHS deputy press secretary internet pedophile thing) during routine processing, but I'm really really really hoping that this means that his EAD will be on the way soon--despite the unchanged status message, or I'm hoping that the message will change in the next few days to an approval message.

Has this happened to anyone else, where they got "touched" without an actual status update, but got their EAD in the next week? What do you guys think, will my hubby be workin' for the man soon?

I submitted my documents for EAD several days later than you did, and my application has also been "touched" earlier this week. But no EAD in mail so far... I guess, it's just routine processing.

You usually (not always) get a notice via email that the EAD has been approved before you get anything in the mail. We actually got about 3 emails for some reason. The approval email looks like this, yours will obviously have a different date:

*** DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS E-MAIL ***

The following is the latest information on your case status

Receipt Number: MSC0000000000

Application Type: I765 , APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION

Current Status:

On March 31, 2006, after approving your application, we ordered you a new card. Your card will be mailed to you as soon as it is ready.

If you have questions or concerns about your application or the case status results listed above, or if you have not received a decision or advice from USCIS within the projected processing time frame*, please contact the National Customer Service Center.

National Customer Service Center (800) 375-5283.

*The projected processing time frame can be found on the receipt notice that you received from the USCIS.

*** Please do not respond to this e-mail message.

Sincerely,

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)

Then a few days later we got this email (again x3) indicating that the card was in the post and surely enough it arrived 2 days later:

*** DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS E-MAIL ***

The following is the latest information on your case status

This case has been approved. On April 4, 2006, an approval notice was mailed. If 30 days have passed and you have not received this notice, you may wish to verify or update your address. To update your address, please speak to an Immigration Information Officer during business hours.

If you have questions or concerns about your application or the case status results listed above, or if you have not received a decision or advice from USCIS within the projected processing time frame*, please contact the National Customer Service Center.

Yay! I certianly hope that those of us who filed at the end of January get the work permit soon. My hubby applied Jan 23 and had his biometrics on Feb 23. The application has not been touched since February 28. :(

We were incredibly lucky to have his K-3 go through fast and I hope that USCIS hurries up. You can't get the SSN without the EAD and you need an SSN for everything!

good luck everyone!

I-485 , I-765, I-130: NOA1 : 1/23/2006

Biometrics 2/23/2006

Temporary EAD given for 1 month ONLY b/c of Infopass appt: 5/1/2006

Went back to renew EAD through Infopass: EAD card was not given "due to reasons we can't disclose"

5/3/2007: Confirmation that EAD is delayed due to background checks. (started to use the senator, ombudsman and was just a royal pain in the neck)

5/30/2007: EAD production ordered (after over 400 days of waiting!!! woo hoo!)

AOS Interview: 5/12/2008!!! FINALLLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

7/29/2008: card production ordered...918 days..can't wait to see that card!

I'm sure the OP already knows this, but just to clarify for those who may not know, the OP must wait until 90 days after the USCIS's receipt of the RFE response before she can apply for an interim EAD.

Yes we do know that, unfortunately. Thanks for making sure Jenn! We have 'til the end of May before we can apply for an interim but I'm hoping we'll get his EAD soon! It will work out okay because we're moving down to Phoenix at the end of May so he has to wait to get a job anyway. :)

Kate, thanks for letting me know that we might not get an email before we get the card... that is really nice to know, I'm hoping I get a surprise EAD in the mail one day. :) Thanks for your responses everyone!
