Mexican governor announces the time "has arrived" to declare a North American Economic Community

WND Books

(WebWire) 9/13/2007 3:22:50 PM

Los Angeles, CA (Sept. 13, 2007) -- The first truck authorized by a Bush administration program opening U.S. highways to trucking companies from Mexico crossed into the U.S. on Sept. 8th. But the way in which the trucking company was selected is part and parcel of George W. Bush's stealth assault on American sovereignty, claims Dr. Jerome Corsi, author of the New York Times bestseller "The Late Great U.S.A: The Coming Merger with Mexico and Canada" (WND Books, ISBN 0-9790451-4-2, $25.95, July 2007).

"Transportes Olympic, the Mexican trucking firm sending out that first tractor trailer north, was actually selected to be the first across the border nearly six months ago, despite the administration's 'last-minute' announcement of the carrier earlier this week. If that's not an example of Bush administration 'stealth,' what is?" asks Corsi.

The designation of Transportes Olympic actually was made at a Feb. 22, 2007, ceremony held in Apodaca, a municipality of the city of Monterrey in the Mexican state Nuevo Leon, the headquarters location of Transportes Olympic. It was there that the governor of the Mexican state said that the time "has arrived" to declare a North American Economic Community.

This shocking statement was reported by the Mexican press, but not by any mainstream American media outlet. "To learn the truth of what Bush is up to with regards to creating a North American Union, people need to read Spanish-language media or sites like WorldNetDaily," Corsi observes. However, doing so will set the teeth of any patriotic American on edge.

Which doesn't seem to bother Texas Governor Rick Perry, whose perfidy is well documented in "The Late Great U.S.A." According to author Corsi, "Official Mexican government reports reveal Mexico has entered discussions with the state of Texas and top officials in the Bush administration to extend the Trans-Texas Corridor into Mexico, with a plan to connect through Monterrey to the deep-water Mexican ports on the Pacific, including Manzanillo and Lazaro Cardenas."

But again, you need to know Spanish in order to get that information.

"The official website of the Mexican northeastern state of Nuevo León contain multiple reports that the governor of the Mexican state of Nuevo León has actively discussed with numerous U.S. government officials, including Perry, Transportation Secretary Mary Peters and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, the extension of the Trans-Texas Corridor into Mexico to create what's called a "Trans North America Corridor."

So when is Congress going to put a halt to the stealth but steady destruction of America's economic and political independence? When will our so-called "representatives" not only dish out the legislative smackdown that George W. Bush so richly deserves, but tell Mexico unequivocally that we will no longer be the dumping ground for millions of illegal aliens, criminals, drunk drivers and illiterate peasantry -- and then demonstrate some resolve?

"That's why I wrote 'The Late Great U.S.A," Corsi explains, "to bring all the evidence together and to show Americans what is happening under their very noses. It's all too reminiscent of the way the EU was created. And when you look at Europe, what do you see? Millions of people without political representation, who have no say in their destiny. No wonder Europeans aren't having kids any more. They know there's no future for them. We cannot allow that to happen here."

That's what makes "The Late Great U.S.A" must-reading for every patriotic American. "We must end Bush's dream of a North American Union - one that will benefit no one but his rich cronies and foreign investors," says Corsi, "and we must force Congress to act. The time to do that is now, before it's too late."

What I find funny about all of this is that this was all signed for by President Clinton's administration with a republican Congress years ago. Now it gets blamed on President Bush's administration with a democratic Congress.

although this is a sensationalist article.. it has some interesting points to consider..

it seems that a lot of people dont even know what NAFTA is, that it involves all 3 countries, and it has been there for a long time..

the thing is, the early stages of Nafta, USA was the only one who got the benefits of the commercial exchanges, and anyone trying to import into the USA was stopped because of 'deficiencies' (Mexican Tuna fish dolphin free, and the vegetables from the center-south... Canada with candies that used dyes that weren't 'approved' by the FDA)... and now in this stage of NAFTA, it allows for Mexico or Canada to compete directly with USA.. and, well, supposedly USA is all about the free market and competitiveness, so, why is the US market so scared of the NAFTA agreement.. this author only makes me wonder, are the American companies really competitive, or they've been used to a protectionist goverment that would block foreign competition from the neighbor countries..

besides, it's nothing new, Mexico and Canada have been doing imp/exp's with the USA for years, difference now, is that these countries can now get benefited too, not only the USA... if there's price differences, cant the US companies figure it out how to compete against these new market rivals? price is not alway the best strategy to compete.. cheap chinese goods have been in the US market for decades, so. why not having the option of having a chinese good, a Mex/Can good or an American good, that'd give the people more choices..

and the last thing.. how or why is American Trade considered an attack to the US Sovereignity?? and why is THIS RELATED TO ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION?? but oh well, only wife o'hunky john can find articles relating illegal immigration and Hurricane Humberto..

I thought we discussed this case. Where the Mehico companies refused to use dolphin free nets to catch tuna. That was a ruling under the WTO and had nothing to do with nafta. Maybe if Mexicans learned to speak English, as so many people in other nations do, they would understand stuff like this..

PS I have spoken to people who say their factories shut down here in the US due to NAFTA where the factories moved to Mexico.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.
