But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Illinois does not have the helmet law....it is a personal choice...i have no qualms ..if i ride, i wear a helmet...

Me too, brother...in fact, the doctor recommends that I wear a helmet all the time...even when showering.

In 1979 my 23 year old brother was riding his motorcycle when a car made an illegal turn and literally ran into him from behind. He was thrown 57 feet in the air and landed on his head, right arm and right side. His helmet was cracked as was his skull. His right wrist was impacted and shattered; his right arm fractured in several places and his right femur fractured. He was in a coma for a week and we didn't know if he would survive. The one thing the doctors said that if he hadn't been wearing his helmet he would have been killed on impact. As it was, it took a long slow recovery of several years. He lost the complete use of his right arm since the nerve had been too severely damaged to regrow, in spite of several reconstructive surgeries. He has no memory for the event or for almost a year afterwards. He suffered brain injuries, although his brain has compensated admirably. His life was changed forever because someone else was in too much of a big hurry and not because of anything he did wrong. And he is one of the lucky ones. . . he survived. The court settlement went no way near compensating him for his losses and a life that was sadly derailed.

Anyone who chooses to ride a motorcycle without a helmet is nuts. Not meaning to be harsh, but maybe the one good thing that can happen from being in an accident without wearing a helmet is perhaps their genes are removed from our gene pool.

Imagine tomorrow if someone created a law mandating wearing helmets inside cars. Crazy? We do NOT need laws of this nature what so ever. Helmets, seatbelts, all of these things should be decided by the individual, not any government. These are personal freedoms.

This is one of those deals that I am torn about. I can understand a law that protects someone from hurting someone else but this is to protect you from yourself. Seatbelts and helmets are a very good idea and should always be worn but to have a law mandating it complete with fines for not wearing them IMO goes to far. If someone want to be an idiot then I think they should be allowed.

Yeah, the only thing I figure is if I'm riding a motorcycle without a helmet, and you hit me, and I die, now you've killed someone, and I sure as hell hope you didn't run a stop sign or a red light or something, you know?

IMO, the short answer is helmet laws are about reducing the medical expenses a city or state incurs and are not for the safety of the rider. It ought to be a choice and if you don't wear a helmet and you don't have good insurance then they can just let you bleed out in the parking lot and then put you in a casket. You can't fix stupid and I don't want to pay for it either...

Three weeks ago, I was in an accident that involved a motorcycle. I am sure that the guy on the Harley would be dead right now if he hadnt been wearing a helmet. He had one of those short helmets that most Harley riders wear, but it saved his life. Hachemi and I were stopped waiting on traffic to clear to turn left. The Harley was behind us, also waiting to turn left. A car going 50+ miles an hour stuck us both. The motorcycle rider struck his head on the hood of the car and was thrown clear into the other lane. A Semi was comming but it stopped just in time. The car then stuck us and sent us down the highway. Our jeep cherokee was totalled.

Here is a photo of the car that hit us and the motorcycle.

You ever seen or heard of the old ogrish site.. After looking at some of the graphic images on that site I started slowing down and made sure I wore my seatbelt and helmet..

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.
