Ooops. Coming in late to this meeting. Looks like you're already meeting with your Dean, Len, so too late to tell you not to grab her nose and twist.

How is she going to do that without a pipe wrench?

Here's a somewhat related question - when did everyone give their notice at work? Ie. before your interview, after your interview? And how long did you have off before you left for the U.S.?

For work, I'm giving them a month in advance to find a replacement. Most likely I'll have about two or three weeks before my POE date to get everything sorted out, go to the parties, and say goodbye to friends and family. :)

I had to abide by the terms and conditions of my employment and that required a 30 day notice. Unfortunatey, they continued to ask me questions until my day of departure so, technically, I had no "time off" before leaving for the US. (They then hired me on contract for an additional few months so I worked long distance [telecommuted] after I moved here.) I definitely waited until after the interview as there were other factors involved in my move.

As an aside, resigning from work before receiving the visa is a bit of risk to say the least.

OK people, it's done. I want to thank the Academy  , my cast and crew who allowed me to deliver such a fabulous performance. Thanks to Tinker for being such a fantastic director, to Liz_legend for makeup and making me look nice, to misa for her creativity and for believing in my acting... WAIT: that's my Oscar acceptance speech. Darn.

Nobody got hurt. some hard truths were said, but all in good faith... aha....

To answer someone's questions: as faculty I had to give 6 weeks notice. I am officially still as college nerd until the 30, but took 2 weeks vacations for MTL. PLUS they owe me like other 3 weeks which they will have to cashhhhhhh with my last check. HA.

Congratulations:-). That is a hard interview to go through when things are not always good on the job scene.

On the related question - I gave my notice the day after my interview - they knew it was coming though - and worked for the next 5 weeks which included interviewing and training my replacement. Since I had about 4 weeks of overtime and vacation time due to me I was actually on the payroll for another month after I crossed the border - and then my health benefits continued for 30 days after that. I was actually very sorry to resign - I loved that job and had the greatest of respect for my boss.

(and yes, my replacement continued to call me for a number of months after I crossed the border for advice or information).

OK people. So today is my last day at the "college" that shall remain unnamed. I have a meeting with my Dean in 1 hour, and I sincerely hope she does not ask me my thoughts on "what was it like to work here?", because my honesty will get me in trouble LOL. Whatever. Later, lunch with the few friends I have around here, and then off to continue my freak out until the 26.

The point of this topic is just to let you all know that:

1. I am really losing my mind, crying for no reason, hyper jumpy, moody as hell.

2. Same as above.

3. Repeat 4 times.

Man, this is way too frkin much. ARGH.

Ok, rant done. For a few hours.

L.

How's the day after looking my friend?

I had told my work from filing the paperwork what my plans were and how the process worked (they had been like family to me). There was huge training involved and I didn't want to leave them in a bad spot. They had no problems with all of the Montreal delays and would have kept me on as long as needed. I was really lucky in that department.
