Any recent EADs at the Windsor / Detroit POE?

The Windsor / Detroit POE has sometimes given out the EAD stamp. Has anyone gotten one recently, or have they stopped giving it out, or is it really hit and miss, or...??

It wouldn't be my first choice of POE, but I could go that way if it would be worthwhile to do so. Air Canada has a seat sale ending tomorrow, and if I hear now that there's a very good chance of getting an EAD stamp at the Windsor / Detroit POE, I might book a ticket to Windsor.

I don't even know if I need an EAD to start with as a self-employed person, but it could help to have one.

I did not get the stamp when I crossed at Detroit on September 1st. Granted, I also forgot to ask for it because we were so busy dealing with other complications (related to my particular case, not anything to do with the POE).

I really think the stamp is something that they are trying to phase out everywhere... so even though someone on the phone said they'd give it, there are still no guarantees!

I called Windsor/Detroit as well as Sarnia/Pt.Huron and neither one would do the stamp. I believe the only one doing the stamp right now is JFK...

well if you're k-3, sarnia is offering them (dummazzes) almost insisting on giving them

my opinion is if you've spoken to someone who says they will in fact give the stamp , get their name and ask when the best time for you to cross is so as to ensure having them on duty to follow up on that offer. that being said , it may be possible that they cannot give you their work schedule for protection purposes but it's worth a try to ask. i also wouldnt take no for an answer right away ......when my husband activated his k-3 it took up to 7 people to assist in the processing as not 1 single person knew what exactly to do. i would also take as much information with you regarding the fact that k-1's are work authorized by merit of the visa. the sad reality is that those who responsible for knowing their job and all it entails simply do not and it is our task to come prepared with as much ammo as we can to prove that what we're asking for is reasonable and allowed.

good luck

I was kinda wondering the same thing but I looked up the Windsor/Detroit entry and it's SO out of the way! We wouldn't have the time to do that and it wouldn't be worth it for us... but anyway... what do they have against giving Canadians a stamp to allow them to work anyway? Are there just too many of us or something? lol. I find it ironic that I live a lot closer to my fiance than say someone in California or Washington State lives to him but if he was marrying someone from the west coast, they wouldn't have to go through all this. The only thing I can think of that would make sense is if they let us all take jobs in the U.S. they'd be afraid their people wouldn't get the jobs!

Well not to nitpick or be annoying, but which number do you phone? I mean, for example, I went to the Detroit Service POE (Land) and they have more than 10 phone numbers on that page with all of the information. Which one would be the right number to call to see if we can get a stamp there or not (all land POEs not just Detroit)
