OK, so my wife was approved on a K3 visa and is now in the states with me (yay), but now we have to file these AOS documents and we are having a lot of difficulty with filling in the forms. If any of you could help out with our questions it would be greatly appreciated :)

1) G-325A - what is the File Number? Where can I find it? I have found a number on the I-94 form on the visa that has an A number on it. Is that it or is it the A number found on the approval notice from USCIS??

2) I-485 - What is the current USCIS status? Is it K3 Non immigrant?

- What is the A#?

- What is the non-immigrant visa number? Where can I find this?

- What status did my wife enter as? Would it be non-immigrant? (i know these qus must seem silly but im being very pedantic)

3) I-765 - Again, this "A#" please let me know which one it is

4) I-864 - In Part 5 of the document I need to know how to fill this out, its very confusing... It asks "persons sponsoring in this affidavit", i pressume i put 1 in. Then the next question is "persons not sponsored in this affidavit", do I leave all these boxes blank except the 'yourself' box? SO that would leave a total of 2?

I hope someone out there can help me, esp re this whole "A #" thing! I know these questions may be silly but I really don't want to get it wrong and later get one of those dreaded RFI's!!

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!

I am wanting to know some of the same questions. Though, I have a couple more to add. My fiance and I do not have any children together and he does not have any of his own. I have children previously and now that we are married, on form I-485, part 3, section B where it asks for husband or wife and children. I will put my name as wife, but do I have to put my kids names as well? Also for wife's family name, do they want my maiden name or now married name?

I also need to know about this A# is it the number on the back of the I-94?

Non-immigrant visa #, where exactly is that located on the visa, or how many numbers is it?

The file number is the A#. The A# is your Alien Registration Number, which may be on your visa and/or your I-94. Mine was handwritten on my visa by the immigration officer at JFK Airport. I had initially got the number on my NOA2, although I was a K-1, not a K-3.

You should have only one such number and you can use it whenever required by the forms.

The number is in the following format: A XXX XXX XXX or A 0XX XXX XXX

- What is the non-immigrant visa number? Where can I find this?

The non-immigrant visa number is the unique serial number of your visa. Find it on the visa.

- What status did my wife enter as? Would it be non-immigrant?

I would simply put down "K-3 visa holder" there. It's the most specific answer you can give, and they know the rest.

thanks for the help, I was able to find the A# and visa #. Filling out the G-325, do they want us to submit 4 copies, like we did with the K-1 petition? Or just 1? If anyone knows the answer to the question I asked about me putting my kids on the I-458 form, is that what I'm supposed to do? Thanks

Hi...

I would guess that the file number you are talking about is her alien number. You can find it on the visa in her passport. I came in on a K-1 visa, and my alien number was in my passport on the visa they put in. That's the only # that starts with an A... But I'm not sure about that!!!!!!

I believe that K3 is a non immigrant visa... that's what I found on uscis.gov... How Do I Become a K-Nonimmigrant as the Spouse or Child of a U.S. Citizen? (K-3 and K-4 Visa Classifications)

The non-immigrant visa number (this title already tells you that this typ of visa is a nonimmigrant...) is also on the visa that was put into her passport.

The status she last entered the US would be as a K-3 Visa holder (in my case I put K-1 Visa holder)

In I-864 you have to put the number 1 for question 21 a and a number 1 for question 21 a. That makes 2 people in your household. If you have kids or somebody else living with you you have to put them into the proper line, for kids 21 d, for other dependents 21 e.

When you open her passport with the visa in it, you'll see from the top to the bottom... Issuing post name, surname, given name, passport number, entries, annotations... under that word it should say petition #, to the right of the pettition number you'll find you A#, which is the alien number.

I hope I could help you somehow, but as I said, I'm not sure about the nonimmigrant stuff.

Good luck to you guys... oh, and there is no silly questions!!!!!! that's why we all are here for, to learn more!!!!! ;)

Do you send all four pages of G-325A?

I should have gave more details, of what I was asking about the children. I am the USC and the children are mine not my husbands. But I was confused if my husband should put my kids on the form, now that they are his step children. I decided to fill the form and not put them on there. If anyone reads this and thinks I am supposed to add my(USC) childrens names on the I-458 form. Let me know, I won't be sending it in yet. I think I've done the right thing by not putting them on the form. Thanks everyone.

No if you are the USC you do not put your children since you are not the one filling the form. I believe that your husband should only put his children either biological or adopted, the ones he is officially responsible for.

And yes you do send the all 4 pages of the G-325A, sorry I don't know why I wrote down affidavit of support  my brain is starting to mix up everything.

It's just like for the K1, as long as they have different pages numbers you sent it all. No matter how stupid and not useful it sounds. WHo knows what they do with it anyway.
