Hello,

My interview is coming soon and i have a friend who wants to give her ds 157 blank with the stamped from BPI indicating for the visa payment( dated feb 2007) since she did not use it and she plan to give it to me instead so that it will not be wasted.. Is it okay to use it? thanks for any feedback on this...

Best to fill out the stamped DS 157 from the bank by hand or typewriter and make a copy. That's what we did.

However I've heard of peeps filing out 2 online and stapling the blank to one of the online copies.

Lazy people can finish last tho!!

Thanks.. But my concern guys is the date of that validation is feb 2007.. I read that it is valid for a year though.

that im not sure because i noticed when i paid ours, they logged our name on to their log book although the receipt and the stamp at the back of ds157 doesnt have our name on it.. maybe it is just for reference. why dont you check w/ bpi or w/ USEM?

I have read this in the USEM web site (please check this link http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwhniv1.html)and I hope that this answers your question.

This fee can only be paid at designated branches of Citibank or Bank of the Philippine Islands. It must be paid in Philippine currency at the American government exchange rate prevailing on the day of payment. The bank will provide a receipt and DS-157 Form where payment is machine-validated by check-rite.

A fee applies to only one visa classification/application. If an applicant wishes to apply for more than one visa simultaneously, corresponding payment per visa class must be made.

Visa application fees are nonrefundable. No exceptions will be made to this rule. The application fee is valid for use for one year after the date of actual payment. The interview schedule must fall within the one-year validity. The fee is transferable if the DS-157 Form has not been filled out. The fee cannot be paid from outside of the Philippines; it cannot be paid at the American Embassy. See Where To Pay The Application Fee for a list of bank locations.

hello Riza! Based on the facts stated in the USEM web site, my answer to your query is on the positive. Since, the date of actual payment is February 2007, thus the validity of the DS 157 is until February 2008. It was clearly stated that the application fee is valid for use for one year after the date of actual payment. However, the interview schedule must fall within the one-year validity. In addition, DS 157 is transferrable provided that it has not been filled up yet. Anyway, this is just how I understand your case. Good luck! God bless you!

jj is right..BPI has this log book wherein they will input the receipt number & your name into it..then they will ask for your signature.

i believe this info will then be forwarded to USEmbassy. Because whats the point of securing this logbook if it doesnt have a purpose? - thats how i see things..

just curiosity..how come your friend didnt use this DS 157?

Thank you guys.. Well, she has 2 visa application one is k3 and one cr1 and cr1 works so the ds 157 was not used... I will ask the BPI here in cebu about this.. thank you for your info...

I just want to share my experience when I paid the visa application which made me to conclude that the name of the payee and the validation is somewhat recorded in the USEM system.

I went to Citibank at Paseo de roxas ( Corporate Building ) because I had a 100 US dollar bill with me and it was nearer to the Malaysian EMbassy where I got my police clearance earlier that day. I waited for my turn , unfortunately, when the teller was about to do my transaction he informed me that the system of the US embassy is down so he cannot enter my details into the USEM system. . his statement was " Ma'am down pa ho ang system ng US Embassy so hindi ko ho matransact payment ninyo, try nio nalang sa BPI " . . those were his words and I presumed that every payment and its corrresponding receipt number and the name of the payor is being downloaded to the system of the USEM.

Anyhow , I went to BPI and paid, I have already filled up my 157 using the typewriter and the teller gave me a blank 157. I requested her to also validate the one I already filled up so until now I have my blank validated 157.

From the Citibank teller's statement, I have this opinion that each payment , the number and payor is being downloaded to the USEM system.

I am not sure whats the implication , whether or not you can use someone else's blank validated 157.

Well, why not call the embassy and ask about it just to be sure.

I just paid the visa fee at BPI earlier today and was able to talk to the one in-charge and found out that only the receipt number which is found at the upper right of the pink slip (machine validated by the bank) will be on the system of USEM and the "log book" is for bank's use only for verification purposes. So, it only confirms what is stated at their web site that the DS-157 is transferrable if not filled up since only the receipt number is downloaded into the system of USEM and not the name of the person who appears in the log book. That's how i understand it.
