We used checks. The good thing for us was that as soon as they were cashed we could see it on our bank account (we checked online everyday).

USCIS has no problem with personal checks, they will just hold up the case if it bounces. Personal checks are easier to track when they are cached.

Yeah, you can make a check for the required total ($1010 at this point) and it'll work.

some people advise separate cheques for each application (I-485 + biometrics), then EAD, then AP... if you are filing all three, as it might be going to different sections once received bu USCIS.

However, I sent a single cheque for $745 (in July) - received NOA for each appl, indicating amount of money received for each. Received an RFE for I-485 only with no news on EAD and AP other than touches, so looks like it was ok not to send separate payments.

I paid with a money order for the K-1 and check for AOS and really didn't see any difference.
