thanks trailmix  actually, it's frustrating for all of us... not just me =) that's true, maybe student workers see all those "sensitive" data is a bad idea.. I'm wondering because I work for the government too, and we have student workers given access to fix computers and go into systems where we have member data (SSN, address, location)... maybe not as much as USCIS I would think... I guess I don't know how long to take for us.. they are almost done with March people for CSC (compared to June people for VSC), so that's good... lucky you are in VSC  they usually are the fastest..

I feel your frustration Gogo!!! These people should have addressed the back log of applications a long time ago. What a joke when they actually type on the NOA we have sent your application to CSC to speed up the process!!!! UNBELIEVEABLE!!!!!! The transfer applications all the time but, when they go to CSC they are stuck! But, one bright note here we are almost in someone hands at CSC to review our applications. The back log is going to continue and I feel very sorry for the other month filers that have filed after us. Our applications should have never went to CSC and VSC should have processed them. We would have had our approvals but, this was to speed up the process. :crying::blink:

A backlog is a backlog is a backlog until it isn't.

A one inch pipe will only carry so much water. You can increase the pressure to get more through (better efficiency) but it's still not going to carry enough water if what is needed is a two-inch pipe. Resizing a pipeline costs time and money. The fees just went up, so there is a possible opportunity to fund a bigger pipeline by hiring extra people. Perhaps the increased fees will reduce the needed flow as well. All this will take time. In the meantime, things aren't much different than they have for the past 3 or 4 years.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
Understanding the big picture is priceless. Anonymous

Yes, they raised the fees for the applications. But, those results of processing applications sooner will probably take a year or more. Also, to train people this takes time and unfortunately more delays in applications. If USCIS procedures for processing were the same from 3 to 4 years ago they not only need people for processing but, they need better decision makers in there service centers. It will be time to clean house and bring in new staff. Get rid of the dead beats.:dance: Anyway, I have stated before this is one of the most challenging and difficult experiences in our lives. But, we shall overcome USCIS and keep the hope and faith our families we be united together here in the United States.

desert_fox, why don't you fill out your timeline to help everyone else before attacking others? I don't see you even helping out your fellow Visajourney members... being a "Diamond" member doesn't really help if you post a lot of BS and try to attack others... I just trying to post some ideas... volunteering might help if they are tight on money? They should find other ways to solve the problem if one way (the main way of getting funds) don't help out... they can still raise money in other ways... just like lots of different organizations/charities out there...
\\

I aint attacking anyone....you think its a matter of being some kind of data entry clerk...which is hardly the case.

First of all...Congress sets personnel limits for each agency thru the budgeting process. Each agency must be at their authorized strength at the end of the fiscal year. If they supplement the work force with Temporaries, this ppl must be off the payroll by the end of the fiscal year..

You fees are a drop in the bucket of their budget requirements. I doubt they pay 20% when you consider a Adjudicator is probly a 60/hr cost to the gove with all the bennies. The fees also go to the general fund where they are Authorized, Appropriated andAllocated, as it is with all federal agencies.

There is always a shortage and every federal agency wants more oney than they are receiving.

You say that you work for the govt??....then you should know.

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

With waits as long as they are now, it's easy to get frustrated. But try to drop all the messages against each other, please. There is absolutely nothing we can do to make it go faster...it sure won't help to get frustrated with fellow VJer's. If anyone from CSC read this thread, they would laugh at how applicants are getting at each other instead of them now. Try to direct your frustration toward something constructive, like making jokes about the CSC workers. Humor is a lot better way to pass the time quickly than frustration is. I like to picture CSC workers as ridiculously fat government workers who run out of breath between adjudicating each case. Maybe we should lobby to get CSC to put a gym in their building to boost productivity.

For informational purposes USCIS is self-funded. If this was Walmart we could choose to shop elsewhere, but since the USCIS is the only legal place to get a visa for our loved ones we must follow there timeline.

Maybe if you take the time to read this thread you may understand the process better:

For those that projecting is the only way to deal with frustation and impatience, please project away. For others it may be a good time to read about atitude learning theory where learners are asked to change a pre-existing behavior or form a new behavior.

in a word.... INEFFICIENT... that is my say on it... they should do planning if they know the population will increase... expansion does take more money (then charge more, lots of K3 people are willing to pay more to have faster approval times)...

I wasn't complaining about my timeline... but for all the people that applied.. no need to get mad at me, perfect.. just throwing out ideas... I wasn't mad at you too, just mad at the inefficient system that they have... I (and everyone here) know they can do MUCH BETTER than this.. for example, system go down and they stop processing applications... they should have a backup for that and switch over right away... (RAID Mirroring system??).. or at least have real-time processing times... what is their 6 MONTHS time now? like my previous topic, I think that they are getting lazy with that timeline... I can put 5 YEARS there, and that means we can't contact them for 5 years? give me a break...

Desert Fox is right about the budget. I used to be a government employee of a DoJ and now DHS agency, and I also spent two years as a DoD employee before moving into the private sector. I don't have budget knowledge, but as any goverment employee, former or otherwise, knows, there are problems with inefficiency and disorganization across the board for a whole array of public-service government agencies. Here is an article that appeared in the NYT and Washington Post a few months back. This should gets gogo's water boiling even more (and rightfully so!)

Also, if anyone knows or speculates why they may have transferred my K-3 to a local office, please opine. I've heard from a few that say it could possibly be a good thing because of the backlog at the SCs that the local offices might be able to adjudicate faster, but the majority of VJers say it is due to a pending RFE or more investigating. Any opinion or knowledge would help. Of course USCIS doesn't say anything other than the application is being transferred to a field office for "further processing"

Damn, i'm sorry for taking up all these posts, but I forgot to mention something. I could very well be completely wrong about this so don't "quote" me on it, but I think if a government agency collects 15% or 20% of its budget from sources allocated to its primary function, like USCIS, then it is considered self-funded according to the CBO (Congressional Budget Office). This designation would mean that USCIS doesn't have to necessarily follow congressional caps when it comes to hiring employees, training, and budgeting that is set on other agencies-provided of course they continue to meet this designation throughout the fiscal year, which i'm sure they do. Anyway, just for giggles, the SSA would also be considered "self-funded" and we all know what a fiasco that turned out (or will turn out) to be.

hire volunteers??? I dont know what this even means. You just dont pull someone off the streets to do this type of work....They prob go thru 6 months of training even before they start adjudicating a petition. The govt doesnt use volunteers.

student clubs??....you need to get real

i wouldn't be surprised if the USCIS hires temps during periods of voluminous visa applications

that's what the canandian embassy in manila does

these temps don't go through six months of training

and then you wonder how in the hell could papers get lost...

I'm thinking, like most REAL jobs, that terrible performance be rewarded with a pink slip.

If I'm going to suffer for a few years or more, some heads should roll. The managers of this mismanaged joke need to get canned, and probably caned.

This is a complete joke and insult to the 1/2 of us that are US citizens already.
