The thing is, snow is pretty - but I hate driving in it, I hate when you put your foot on the brake and the car keeps on going - it's so not good. Flowers, green leaves, warm breeze, clear sidewalks, cars that are warm - now that's good stuff :)

I love snow, but I agree - driving in it sucks, especially if you have a car that's rear-wheel drive. Skid city -_-

I do NOT miss the snow one little bit! It is kind of like 'nice to visit, glad I don't live in it anymore'. The thermometer in my back window currently reads 35 C. degrees - and it is humid out there today as well. We may get more storms tonight. Still, early September is early for snow even in Canada:-).

ENJOY SNOW? When snow learns to only blanket grass, majestically coat trees and keep OFF of streets and sidewalks, then and only then will I welcome snow! Snow is for those that have the luxury of bundling up in their mountain cabin in front of the fireplace drinking hot cocoa hibernating until next spring! For the rest of snowbelt commuters that have to slip and slide to work for four months or more, FORGET IT!

Doubt I'll be seeing much of it in North Carolina. *sigh*

Depends where in North Carolina you'll be really. We don't get any here in Morganton (foothills) but strangely enough, Charlotte usually gets dumped on once or twice every winter (well...dumped on is a relative term...one inch here shuts everything down for a day and a half ;) ) and the mountains gets quite a bit sometimes.

I actually miss snow. Winter is rather blah without it.

I remember it snowing in August one year in Alberta- apparently they also had snow in July one year.

With some of these hot, humid summer days here in Louisiana- there were many days I would have loved to roll around in the snow and feel that cold.

me too. We had a snowstorm AND an icestorm this past winter and I was overjoyed.......plus amused at the sudden scramble for shovels, sand, and ice melter :P

We had a small dusting of snow my first winter here - although there are definitely snow days - I have seen the photos:-). No need for a snow shovel though - we just used the leaf blower to get it off of the driveway.

That reminds me - 2 Christmases ago we spent it with my husband's family just outside of Houston, Texas. We had a white Christmas Eve (ok, it was trying to be white but the stuff kept melting on the pavement). My husband and his cousin gathered up all of the snow they could find from the top of the cars and had a 'snowflake' fight! :D :D

The biggest problem we have in winter here is that the temperature will go below freezing overnight then up into the 50s during the day. Moisture freezes on the roadways and you get a lot of black ice. Plus, if it is raining, it is often freezing rain during the morning commute. That, I worry about.

While it's much cooler here this week in MO, I had dreams of snow all summer.... *sigh* I will miss snow. Like most places in the south, (Some people will laugh when I say that I live in the south!) we have about 2 "snow" days a winter. All melted by noon usually...Everyone is slip sliding around the streets. I love it. I love the "quiet" when it snows. Cold? You don't have to have cold to have snow. Here however is a lovely pictures that I had taken just before I left to move down here to the US...

Heh, I'm in the Metro East, and I can vouch for that. St Louis is far enough south for restaurants to serve grits and red velvet cake, and the people who live in some of the rural areas around here sound more southern than midwestern.

We may only get snow a few times a winter, but it usually falls a good 4 or 5 inches at a time--and on top of ice. (Granted, this is almost always after they predict we are going to get 6 to 8 inches.) Then it melts in a day or two, and THEN it gets really cold! Actually what sucks is that unlike Arizona or California, it gets cold enough for the trees to all lose their leaves and the grass to turn brown but then unlike someplace colder the snow melts so it really does look pretty bleak and ugly in the winter.

I dreamed of snow all summer too. I actually had trouble adjusting to the heat and humidity here when I moved here from Tucson, Arizona, six years ago, that's how brutal it is.
