i agree brother russ...there is a invasion of privacy and hippa ...illinois state law always required psych admisisons for certain mental health diagnosis be reported to the state police..i had many clients ahve their gun card revoked ..and sometimes, guns seized or have to ransfer to a relative who ahs a valid gun card..this now, increases the information to the state police..plus, looks like all psych admissions...are reportable..so, i f a new mtoher has post partum depression , she probably loose her gun card, if admitted for a bried hospitalization...

but, does not include admissions for chemcial dependency issues

i shudder to think what would happen if a gun owning citizen was ever treated for depression.

Perhaps they could add a provision that anyone who has been treated for depression could get an exemption with a doctor's approval? In other words, if a doc can vouch that you have no suicidal or homicidal tendencies, then you should not be barred from owning a gun.

exactly...or once the treatment is over and the Doc says you are fit again, you can get your beloved gun back...

yes...sorry for the jargon sister fraces...

must be inpatient .....

and individual therapy...intensive outpatient therapy....and partial hosptitalization do not counst as they are in a non residential setting
