Wedding Gown Cost

Hi. I don't know if this is the correct thread but I want to ask the Filipina women about their wedding gowns. How much did yours cost? I'm planning to have one made at my hometown by my mom's friend who's a famous designer for wedding gowns. She really makes beautiful gowns. My mom was told that her brand new gowns would cost at least 22,800 pesos and would be more depending on the design. We will be given discounts though but I'm still thinking. I want to be practical and at the same time have a gorgeous gown and I'm very choosy with clothes. I don't want to wear second-hands though.

where are you from? fancy gowns are way cheaper in divisoria. you can choose what designs you want in their magazine and the fabric that they are going to use. it can range from 5-8 thousand pesos but from what i heard from co-workers it may even be cheaper than that.

22,800 is fine for a wedding gown..though you need to take note that this price range should give you a long gown(as in long), with trail, it should be in good materials & bead works as well..

but wait!

is this designer from province? what i mean is that..if you're willing to spend this amount for a wedding gown..better check gowns from Edward Teng, Edd SY, Jhun Salazar or even Oliver Tolentino.. You can get gowns from these famous designers almost same price of what you mentioned.

I attended the recent WEDDING EXPO in PICC. I saw some of the gowns of Edward Teng..as i remember they have a gown worth 20,000++ shown in the expo..& its nice. Just to give you an idea..from what ive seen there..the recent designs of E.Teng follows the designs of Moniquie Lhuillier & Vera Wang.

Hi.. . I just had my interview last september 11 and passed but days before that I went to tutuban and bought this beautiful wedding satin cloth already beaded with very small silver beads in patterns . . not the usual beads used in gown, it is simply beautiful and i bought it for P250 per yard from P350. . i bargained good i guess. I bought all the other materials like the lining and the other small things needed and all in all it only cost me less that P2,000. The labor is P4,000.00 so thats basically a P6,000.00 beautiful gown already. . . remember its not the price that counts or who makes it but how you will wear it on your wedding day. . as they say in tagalog " nasa nagdadala yan"

these girls are right DJ, you can find nice materials in Divisoria..

Better buy your own materials & pick your design (theres a lot online!)..then look for good-deal labor...

in US also there's some thrift shop there of wedding gowns..

check the Season 8 of FRIENDS, watched the Episode where Monica was looking for a wedding gown. if you want to get more idea..

Thanks for the ideas! I'm in Manila and my hometown is in Cagayan de Oro. I really don't know how to choose fabrics and such for a gown at divisoria. Maybe I can let my mom come with me. I don't wanna spend too much on a gown that you only get to wear once.

I almost ended up buying wedding gown at Divisoria because not only they have cheaper (but beautiful) gowns but also you can choose the one you really want. Since everything happened so fast for us from the time of my interview to my flight here in US, my then fiance just had my gown made here. It was way too expensive (in my standard), like $400 for a very simple, plain (without bead works and embroidery), satin, off-white dress. But I'm not complaining that my dress was simple because it's beautiful as it is... it's the cost that almost choked me. If I were you, try to look around at Divisoria or have one made there in PI.

Yeah, I'm expecting it's soo expensive to have 1 made there. I will be flying on Jan 2008 so I will still have time. Prob is, I'm afraid to go out alone here especially in Manila lol. Where exactly in divisoria are those gowns found? I'm not so familiar there.

I suggest you buy from Tutuban. . either an already ready made gown or materials for it. I chose tutuban because it is like buying in "SM". The place is spaceous and you wont get pushed. I tried first in New Divisoria Mall and just couldnt breathe because there were too much people . The easiest way to go to Tutuban is from Quiapo. Just get a jeepney from there which is going to Divisoria and for sure it will pass by Tutuban, or better yet, take a taxi . I bought the cloth from Boston's textiles and the laces from Michelles Lace shop located at the ground floor.

MJ bought hers in her home town of Koronadal City for 6,500 pesos and everything looked great! Everything was brand new also.

• one gown
• one head piece with crown and vail
• arm length gloves
• one bouquet but we got a real bouquet for the day of our wedding
• two small pillows for the rings which looked very nice

My wife had hers custom designed and hand-sewn. It was about US$500.
