I consider myself to be of at least average intelligence. I can add and subtract, multiply and divide, decimals, etc.....sometimes my spelling may be off, but that is because I try to type to fast.

I CANNOT, for the life of me, understand what is going on with the Amman embassy in regards to our case.

First, they tell us they need further proof of our relationship and communications, and my financials. Sent by me and received by them on August 7.

Then they phone my husband and ask about family members, schools, had he ever left Jordan.

Two weeks later, I e-mail them. They respond and say that the case is pending further review.

So, I wait two more weeks and e-mail them again.

They say the case is at DOS and they are waiting for it to be released from DOS so they can process the visa. I call DOS, they say they don't have the case, never had the case, and the review is being done at the embassy in Amman. I once again e-mail the embassy, they respond that they are still reviewing the case, and when they are done they will process the case to it's conclusion.

Today, I call DOS again, and get the same answer again. They don't have the file and all reviews are being done in Amman.

My question is:

Is it normal to process the review ONLY at the embassy? Or when they are finished will they then send it to DOS? Which will add ???? months before we ever get an answer.

Or, is it possible that they will issue the visa without more security checks?

It's just so frustrating not to get any real answer from them in regards to the waiting time, and what they are going to do next.

My life has been blessed with the love of 4 of the sweetest men in the world. James, Jonathan, Nicolas, and Islam, my sons and my S/O.

OPSSSSSSS I DID IT AGAIN!

Best thing that can happen is if they continue reviewing it at the embassy. If they send it back to the US you are in deep "da kine"!

That is not true. When they send it to the US it is to the DOS for security checks.

My opinion, not necessarily factually based, is that the phrase 'administrative processing' or 'administrative review' is a generic term used to cover any number of processes or procedures that are probably different in every case and from consulate to consulate. I think this is why those of you stuck in it get so frustrated trying to compare cases and timelines get so baffled, because honestly I just dont think its the same.

my reasoning is that I myself work in an office that receives a high volume of status update type calls, and usually we have a canned answer of 'your file is under review, we'll call you when we have an answer or when we need more information'. :P

thats my AP theory.....

When my husband had AP in Amman it was done at the embassy and not at DOS

Hey mimolicious, OP,

True in part. Since the file is DCF, technically the embassy says it has placed the case in AP. However for the most part, or my experience with my hubby's DCF, clearing up AP hangs on responsibility of DOS. They are responsible for conducting background checks, etc-whatever is needed to clear the petitioner's name. This involves other agencies we're aware of; FBI, USCIS, embassies in other countries the petitioner may have visited prior.... The Embassy will no way no how take any further action until the DOS gives the ok to go ahead then it's all on the Embassy's discretion after that.

We are still battling AP at 19 months so far so I know how frustrating it can be
