You know... there is never going to be a time that EVERYONE is satisfied. People complain threads are closed too quickly, moved, deleted, are too closely moderated and then others say they aren't closed quick enough, aren't moderated well enough, some get special treatment while others don't. All I can say is I'd NEVER want to be a moderator here OR the Capt, because they can't win.

I completely agree - can't please all the people all the time.

I suppose I'm trying to figure out what the 'threshold' here is. If what Marc did isn't at least subject to at least a 'cool off' ban, then that's messed up.

I was on a board once where a member posted 'Kill Jews' about 200 times in one thread. Me (and others) took exception to it, and we were told to 'back off' the OP because he meant it as a 'joke' (which hence, was not a violation of TOS). That told me right away that was a board I no longer wanted to participate in.

Granted, that is a slightly extreme example (sadly, its true though) but I think you get my point.

I just want to know what 'boundaries' (if any) exist here, particularly for ones that may fall slightly outside the TOS.

What about devilette and Gary insulting each other almost daily in political threads? Is that decency? Is it only wrong to attack someone when it's a deep personal issue?

I think some people have double standards. I don't get it.

Sorry, I do not read the political threads because I don't really give a toss about them. I'm sure there are a lot of things on this board that I may not consider decent, but sorry, I'm sure there are a lot of things here I've missed.

It doesn't matter a bit what I think anyway - I am not the site's owner. They are the ones that should define where the lines are or where they are allowed to become a bit fuzzy. I don't expect that to be laid out in some long winded thread or something. But more to lead by example.

I find it odd that threads that are complaining about the site and the mods appear to get more attention from the mods and owner that the threads we are complaining about....

I agree and I'd bet he has been at least put in a cooling off ban. What makes anyone think he hasn't anyway?

I don't know exactly what the policy is about getting information from Capt about another member, but if it's that worrying to someone else, then people should just ask Capt.
