85 Euro fee at Frankfurt per applicant?

My fiance has recently found out that her interview is scheduled for September 21. I have a book that says something about fees at the interview so I thought I should email the consulate and find out how much the fee will be. Here is their reply:

"There is an 85.00 Euro fee but that fee has to be paid ahead of time by your Fiancé. The instructions how to pay the fee were in the Packet that was sent to your Fiancé. Enclosed you will find another copy of the fee instructions."

When they said "ahead of time", when are they referring to? Has anyone else here had their interview at Frankfurt? When is this fee due?

Hi Joshua,

the embassy should receive the fee before her interview. It depends on the bank how fast they transfer the money. I paid my fee two weeks before the interview. Remind your fiance to take the statement of bank account to the interview - they want proof that you paid the fee.

Good luck for the interview.

Karin

Their website says the current fee is €80 (this was adjusted a while ago to reflect the $/€ exchange rate). But I think I also read somewhere else that they have not updated their written materials yet to reflect this. A nice way to get some extra fees!

The fee is due some time before the interview. Rather sooner than later because it should be on the consulate's account before your fiancee shows up for the interview. If she wants to go ahead and pay today then she can do that.

I used a stamped receipt from the bank to show that I paid. They really want to know they got their money!

It should say in the instructions when to pay this fee.

you should go with the online payment over roskos & meyers thats the secure way to transfer the fee. ive heard the consulate wont accept just a plain receipt from your bank.

packet 3 contains a small yellow sheet with instructions for the payment of the fee, it has a internet address on there too, go check that webpage im pretty sure youll find something about the online payment on there.

I have heard of somebody being in trouble before at the consulat for paying the fee at the roskos & meyers company.

They got asked why they did not follow the instructions in pack3.

I myself followed the instructions in Pack3 and printed out a reciept that it was booked off my account and all was fine.

I would do whatever they say in Pack3. I myself payed it at the bank and got a stamp on my transaction receipt but all that was before they introduced the Roskos&Meyer option. If it states in the pack to pay via r&m then do that, if not..just go to your bank and pay it there.
