Woman nabbed in boyfriend purse beating

Mon Sep 10, 4:53 PM ET

A 19-year-old woman was arrested after an officer saw her smacking her live-in boyfriend with her purse during an apparent argument over whether to take a walk on the beach, police said.

An officer driving along an oceanside avenue Sunday saw the woman hitting her 24-year-old boyfriend, first with her bag, then with her fists, police Sgt. George Ramos said.

The officer intervened and learned that the couple, who were not immediately identified, were fighting over whether to take a stroll by the ocean, he said.

"She did not want to walk down to the beach," Ramos said.

The woman was taken into custody and booked on suspicion of battery against a cohabitant, he said. She was scheduled to be arraigned Monday.

The boyfriend was uninjured and went free.
