Dad Fell, Brok Hip in Dublin

Hey, no condolences necessary, I wasn't the one who fell but I thought I'd share what happened...

My parents have been traveling to Ireland every summer for the past several years (they both now have dual citizenship). Anyhow, they thought that last year was going to be their final trip (my Dad will be turning 80 in Dec.), but they decided to go again and left last Thursday from Phoenix. I got a call on Saturday from my mom, who was really upset because she'd been up all night with my dad at the hospital after he just lost his balance and fell while dragging his suitcase. Luckily, Jinky's sister, who is an RN, and brother-in-law drove to the hospital and brought her home to stay with them.

Sunday morning, my dad had complete hip replacement and last information is that he's already up on his feet, but he'll need 2 weeks of physical therapy.

It wasn't exactly what they were planning, but I'm glad that Jinky's family was there for them and that it happened in Dublin rather than London, where they usually first fly to.

It also makes me think of how fragile we are...or get as we advance in age.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

I hope your dad's physical therapy goes well. I have a feeling he will do good! If he's energetic enough to travel like that, he must be in pretty good shape.

Sorry to hear about your dad, Steven. I wish him a full and speedy recovery. (F)

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Wow, glad to hear he is doing well. I had a friend that was on vacation in the Caribbean where he fell while walking to an Internet cafe and the outcome was tragic.

LOL...Amen, brother. He was a straight shooter when we were kids...never once saw him gawk at another woman, but... when he found my older brother's Penthouse calendar he said he had to flip through it to see whether it was really bad or not... Ah, I used to think he was perfect until I was about 9 and I heard him yell the word, jackass to my older brother. I was shattered. :P
