Canadian Birth Certificates?

I have a question for those who have already filed who are from Canada.

I realized today while looking at some information to try and start gathering some information and documentation to prepare for the interview. I realized that the birth certificate my fiancé sent in was the short version, not the long. Will the send it back asking for the full Birth Certificate?

Also, which version of the birth certificate do they want to see at the interview/in the I-129F? Do they want the "Frame Certificate" or the "Certified Photocopy of Birth Registration"?

The consulate will want to see the long version Frame Certificate, which shows parents and their place of birth on top of the regular stats.

Is your fiance the USC or the Canadian? Usually the non-USC does not need to show the birth certificate until the interview stage.

My fiancé is the Canadian, I'm the USC. We photocopied his birth certificate and sent it with the I-129F. I'm just really hoping there isn't a problem and it's not held up because we send in the short, wallet-sized version. I'm going to tell him tonight though to call in and request/order a copy of the long frame version in case there is a problem and he will need it anyway for the interview so he may as well go ahead and request it now,

they won't care about the non-USC birth certificate until the visa interview. Definitely order the long form now to have it in hand.

Hi,

You will need the long form.

Certified Photocopy of Birth Registration (21.5 cm x 35.4 cm)

Contains all of the information that appears on the original birth registration.

I don't have to get one but curious - since the latter is the one I had to have to get my U.S. passport.

The Canadian birth certificate isn't neccessary until the interview. My SO (USC) didn't send anything in for my birth certificate for the 129F, in the meantime, I ordered what they call the LONG VERSION.

You only have the choice of the two, short (wallet) or LONG......

EDIT, just checked your link.

I only had the choice of the two, my long certified copy is just a copy of the handwritten form my parents submitted. Dr., their names, D.O.B., etc.

They didn't offer a pretty framed typed up one *sulk*

Exactly - that's what I am wanting to know! The "Certified Photocopy" is $50 and the "Frame" version is only $25. I'd rather not pay twice as much if I don't have to, but I don't want to be a cheapy and not be approved because I didn't get the Certified photocopy for twice as much!!!

Which reads to me like they want the $50 version - but I'm just surmising. I'm sure someone will happen along who has actually done it. I'm just keeping you company

it's the $25 one from SK. I'm not sure what the difference is between the Framed and Certified BC, but the framed one has all the info that they need. You might as well order it now, but if I remember right it took less than 2 weeks for the hubby to get his from SK

im from Sask as well, and the framed 1 is the correct one. Sk was fast in mailing it out. Ensure you READ it over for errors!! The 1st 1 they sent me had a spelling mistake! I phoned them back,and they sent me another 1 asap.
