My grandpa is ill and I am hoping my application is approved within the next 30-60 days for my work auth and AOS (family petition, I am CDN and married US citizen).

At what point can I leave the country? When my SSN gets here or when my AOS is approved?

Thanks for your help.

You need either Advance Parole or the permanent resident card.

SSN has nothing to do with ability to travel (nor does approved EAD), travel is after approval of the I-485 or I-131... Did you file I-131 for Avance parole?

Thank you for the replies. Also no, I did not apply i-131. Looks like I will need to do this.

You will if you came into the US on a K1 visa and want to leave the country before you get your green card.

I entered on a B-2, visitor visa. Was married 90 days after entry. I am guessing I for SURE need I-131 in this situation.

On 131, I go to Part 2 and select D, in my situation correct?

If you need to go home for a family emergency, DO NOT mail in your AP application. Make an inforpass appointment and bring it in to the local office and ask that they expedite it.

Removal of Conditions:

05/12/2009 -- Overnighted application by USPS express mail (VSC).

05/14/2009 -- Green Card expired.

05/23/2009 --- Check cleared bank.

05/26/2009 -- Received NOA (NOA date May 15, 2009, guess they aren't deporting me).

05/29/2009- Biometrics Notice date

06/01/2009- Received Biometrics Letter

06/18/2009 - Biometrics

09/23/2009 - date of decision to approve (letter received), just waiting for card. No online updates whatsoever.

I looked at infopass and my local office in Santa Ana does not allow ANY filings in person. Is this normal and to be expected?
