General Petraeus believes that we can succeed in Iraq but we need more time. Anyone's thoughts on this?

i am not buying this sh!t..i think he is spouting the Bush line...sorry brother stevie, i ahve been in the Army and President Bush is the Commander in Chief...and the last General, who tried t be a free lancer was McArthur...

I just don't think his credentials show that. In any case though, what Presidential candidate is going to campaign by saying we are going to staying in Iraq for a very long time? This is the political hot potato that nobody is going to touch.

i agree brother stevie, i think he has a track record of being a straight shooter..but, i am afraid he takes orders from Bush admin..and has tainted his true beliefs..i am glad, as a father of a soldier he is in charge...wish he was in charge from the start instead of general franks...

Yup its very likely that Bush and Co pressured him in to using language that may make the picture sound rosier than it actually is.

We are going to stay in Iraq for a while and all the serious Dem candidates know that. How they dance around it is what will be interesting.

I think Hillary has been the most consistent about it. I personally think we should do a complete withdrawal or seriously look into getting other countries to step in, particularly the neighboring countries. Iraq is saying that Iran is their ally, so then why are we battling with forces that are equipped by Iran? Where's the coalition of the willing?

lol..Israel is a liability in any issue with a muslim country..see Bush senior, who did his best to get the scuds so Israel would not get involve and destroy the coalition
