I took my husband's last name the first time around and after the divorce, changed it back to my maiden name. When I married this time, I kept my name because I don't believe it's a part of my religion to change it to his.... I'm his wife, not his property... we're not transferring title here :P (no offense intended to anyone who has a different view, it's just my opinion :))

I guess my struggle is that with my maiden name I won't feel "married" you know? There won't be any "mr. and mrs. xxxxxxx". :(

Took my husband's last name. Apparently it means something very good in Arabic and so i've gotten many compliments. Wouldn't have it any other way - I really couldn't wait to change it ;)

At first I was confused about whether or not to change my last name. On one hand I didn't want my ex's last name anymore but on the other I wanted to keep the same last name as my children. But then again I didn't feel it was right to have another man's last name while I'm married to Moh. I wasn't gonna change back to my maiden name because it's so damn common (Miller). In the end I took Moh's last name. I like it plus it looks and sounds nice (if you say it properly).

so whats the struggle?

do what you want to do :)

I would have loved my husbands last name because I think its a cool name, but I kept my maiden name because my son also has my maiden name and I didnt want him to ever feel like less a member of the family, particularly with this new baby coming who will have her fathers name. So I guess now it will be even 2 and 2 :P

I changed my name with my first husband and changed it back to my maiden name after I divorced. Decided to hyphenate this time with my maiden name and my husband's name. My main reason for doing this was because it made it simpler professionally. Otherwise, I would have gladly taken his name only. Even with me having the hyphenated name, people still call us Mr. and Mrs. I love hearing Mr. and Mrs. :luv:

I understand wanting to be called Mrs So and so... but.. marriage IS all about the love and actions... not the titles.. and words ;)

hahaha I just laughed at the bolded part 'cause I just called my husband and asked him if he's heard that it is haram to take his name. He said, "what is this thing you are talking about???? you are my wife, yes?" and I said, "well I sure hope so!!", and he said, "then you are MINE and you should have my name!!!"
