but i sent a copy of it when i sent the AOS package

Now I am getting into panic mode here, after reading this thread.....

Many of you wrote that you sent a copy of the US citizen's birth certificate when you filed for AOS.

Please tell me that you don't HAVE to send a copy with the AOS package....??

I just double-checked the instructions for the I-485 and couldn't find it anywhere. I also double-checked the instructions for the I-864, and the only sponsors who have to prove citizenship are "If you are a joint sponsor or the relative of an employment-based immigrant requiring an affidavit of support".

Therefore I thought, "regular" sponsors would not have to prove that they're US citizens, so I didn't send my husband's birth certificate in with the AOS package!!

Please, someone tell me that it is not necessary :o

(or at least tell me where to find the instructions for it :( )

Thanks,

CW

CW, I also didn't send in my husband (USC)'s birth certificate.. I've read the instructions lots of times since then to make suer i didn't have to and haven't seen any indication that I had to.. and my interview is in less than a month and i haven't gotten an RFE for it.. I'm sure you'll be fine! Good luck!

Good luck to the OP as well! I'm sure they will be understanding if they even ask for your hubby's birth certificate
