For K3 visa, we just received our EAD card on 9-07-07 after we received an email notice on 9-04-07 that it has been approved. We will go to the SSN office to apply for her SSN card.

Anyone with experience or know how long it will take to receive a SSN after you submit the application at the SSN office?

THANKS and VJ is the BEST!!! :star::yes:

Hi there,

I had my SSN in the mail within 8 days after applying with EAD.

But I have a friend who had to wait 6 weeks, unfortunately. Depends on the system updates the SS offices do, I believe.

Good luck to you!

Did you request an SSN during your K-3 process, I think it was a request on the DS-230? Someone should have info for you.

A SSN is not issued to K3 visa holders even if they checked the box on the form, they can not apply for a SSN until they have an EAD or Greencard... it is only IR1/CR1 that can request a SSN and it is sent to them in the mail about 3 weeks after they arrive in the US (well sometimes, but many end up re-applying after a month)....

To the OP..... most people get their SSN with about 2 weeks after applying at the SSA office... some getheld up for a few weeks because the SSA has to manually verify your status with USCIS because your information is not in there system....

Thanks everyone for all your reply.. I didn't know I had any replies until I signed on again today. It used to send me an email alert when I get a reply.. maybe I changed something... Anyway, we applied for the SSN card on 9-11. The letter said it can take up to 30 days. So we'll see...

Yes, we did check the SSN request during the AOS application or I130, one of those applications. It would make it more simple, if they issue a SSN card with the EAD. Anyway, we just received our application for the initial interview for the AOS... :)

Good luck to all!!! :)
