hey Mony

sorry to hear how rude peole can be.

age does play a factor in whether you will get a visa. sad but true.

best advice? read the pinnned topic at the beginning of this forum to learn about this very subject.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3896

there is some in the beginning that you can skip over but you can learn a lot there. there are also a few other threads to read about Casa here too.

red flags=those issues that a conoff sees as problomatic and may decide to return your petition to USCIS for revocation.

here is a great article writen by Marc Ellis, attorney. it also lists those infamous "red flags" you are reading about.>>>>

http://www.ilw.com/articles/2006,0323-ellis.shtm

be prepared.

Well someone said "don't worry about it",

I say don't worry about it because there is nothing Mony can do about age difference. I am only talking from my personal experience, I don't know other cases.

I didn't address the issue when I filed the petition. It was only brought up at the time of the interview. The CO asked my fiance if it bothered him and he said "no" and that was the end of it. I think our age difference did not bother the CO because we presented evidence that shows a strong relationship: We have been talking for over two years, I visited him three times, we went to many places together, we had an engagement party with all his family. My fiance talks with my daughter online and on the phone. He speaks English very well, and I speak French (not so well). We both work in education ( we didn't meet in a dating chatroom, but a teacher's chatroom), and since I was not born in the United States but in a developing country, we share many cultural traits that are common to people who live in poorer countries. Our age difference, apparently, was not important to the CO.

Mony asked a question because she is worried, and everybody is scaring her. I think that they will be ok as long as they can prove that they have a valid relationship. Age difference is not a reason for denial unless there are other issues. From what she is saying, she has a valid relationship. All she has to do is to prove it to the consulate. Many couples with no age differences are denied, and many with age differences are approved. So, we cannot draw any conclusions about age difference being a reason for denial if isolated from other factors.

All I am saying is that my fiance and I have a large age difference and we were approved because our case was strong enough to convince the CO that it was not fraudulent.

I'm glad you had a good experience but I don't think it's a good idea with large age gaps to tell others "not to worry about it". Many people do worry about it, and rightly so. There are many women on here who have been denied through Casa and one thing they have in common is a large age gap. I think it's better to be safe than sorry.

Hello and welcome to VJ. Unfortunately you are going to find unkind people all over VJ and groups elsewhere but you will also find those wanting to help and offering their suggestions and opinions. My husband and I have a large age difference. He and I went through this process long before I knew about VJ so I guess I didn't know that we might have a problem, which we did not. Maybe we didn't because his mother was 13 years older than his father or maybe they just didn't look at that part as a pitfall to our relationship, as we did not. We did know one another over 2 years. We went through the K-1 process and he joined me here in 6/05 and we were married the same month. I do know of cases that have been denied and some possibly due to age difference but they state other reasons. Each case is looked upon individually so it's hard to think one case will be the same always. Just be prepared with all information and a very confident SO. He needs to know what he is facing and his rights there also. In our case he was asked a few questions, had lots and lots of evidence with them, made sure they knew it was there, though they didn't look at it. You just never know how each interview will be and turn out. Good Luck!

A big age difference doesn't necessarily mean you will not get approved at the interview. But a big age difference could be a big red flag from what I've heard. I've also heard they consider if the man is 10 years or more younger than the woman a red flag, but I have to believe it has more to do with the your personal case. But every case is different, it doesn't mean that will be your case in Morocco. All cases are different, it all depends on all your red flags, your personal case history, how you present your case. So go for it, but just work to show proof in other ways, such as pictures, exceptance from both your families that the age difference is unimportant, and review your own case and see it through the Counselors eyes so you are prepared to succeed at the interview. But when my husband and I were going through this process in Morocco and it probably is much the same, I recommend you do all your homework and prepare for everything to convince the Counselor to approve you. Don't just assume you deserve it and let something you could've prepared for, hurt you. I wish you the best of luck.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

As long as you are both legally consenting ADULTS, there is no age difference limitation. I know a few folks out there with 20+ years between them and even one with 30+ (He's around 65 and she is around 30.)
