Question on Medical

Hi,

I have lost my immunization records and I have no way to obtain them at all. Would I have to get all the shots again for the CR-1 visa at London embassy? Would there be any problem with the medical if I dont have this record? I am really confused. Does anyone have any advice?

Only the ones appropriate to your age. Some a test might be able to identify. Surely, you at least have recent medical records for booster shots?

My husband (a UKC) tried to hunt down his vaccination records but couldn't obtain them from the GP -- too long ago to be found, apparently. Anyway, he only had to have the MMR and DTP shots before the medical, not a massive number of jabs. This is very easily overcome!

So did getting the shots done cause any delay in the process? How would I find out what shots I need?

Nope, no delay. He had them done at the GP's office for free about a week before the medical (although some GPs may charge for this). They filled in a little vaccination booklet for him, and he brought this to the medical for proof.

You can prove what shots you've got (or what immunization you have left) but taking blood samples and providing immunization test to your blood. This is however mostly a more cumbersome and expensive process than it would be to take a massive amount of shots again.

That's called the titre test and you can ask for specific immunization to be checked, more info in this thread:

It's cheaper (at least in the UK) and faster to get the jabs rather than do a titre test. If you're over 19 and under 50, it's really just the MMR, polio and the TD (Tetanus/Diptheria). Polio will be included on the TD. Chicken pox vaccine is not available in the UK, and the doctors will take it on your word if you say you have had chicken pox in the past (showing a scar helps, probably). Titres to me seem to be a lenghty and expensive process, perhaps most appropriate for those seeking to avoid further vaccination. But then of course, to each his own.
