i am planning to apply for advance parole together with my adjustment of status just in case there is an emergency in the Phils. because my father is getting sickly. do you think this is a valid reason? i noticed they also require information about the proposed travel (so that means it should be definite) and on part 7 applicants are required to explain how they qualify for advance parole documents and what circumstances warrant issuance. i just need to be enlightened because it is said advance parole takes time to be approved.

When I filled in my request, I put that I wanted to see my family for Christmas (it had been 16 months since I had last seen them).

It was approved and I was over there for Christmas, and came back without any problems. They didn't require any further information, even flights or anything.

Good luck

Can I only use my AP approval for emergency?

Or can I travel to another country just for pleasure?

There was nothing about my Christmas vacation that constituted an emergency. It was purely for fun

The application does not say emergency it says "emergent personal or bona fide business reasons"

Webster says:

Main Entry: 1emer·gent

Pronunciation: i-'m&r-j&nt

Function: adjective

Etymology: Middle English, from Latin emergent-, emergens, present participle of emergere

1 a : arising unexpectedly b : calling for prompt action : URGENT <emergent danger>

2 a : rising out of or as if out of a fluid <emergent coastal islands> b : rooted in shallow water and having most of its vegetative growth above water <an emergent plant>

3 : arising as a natural or logical consequence

4 : newly formed or prominent <emergent nations>

Knowing it takes 90 days to process, we might have emergent reasons to need AP, so we filed for it.

When my husband and I applied, we just put "To visit Family" We were approved. I just think they want to see something written on the line. We plan on going and visiting his family even later then we wrote down. There are no dates on the Advanced Parole once you get it.

Why not just apply for it anyway with your AOS application? It is included in the cost of AOS.

When we applied for AP (twice) we simply put intermitted international business travel and possible need to travel home to visit an elderly parent.
