Oh... I also went to Best Buy and bought 4 games... I used to be a big adventure gamer but seems like I'm back at it!

FWIW, I got Evidence: The Last Ritual, Dreamfall: The Longest Journey (which also includes the first game), Murder on the Orient Express and Secrets of Atlantis.

I have been too busy to get here and visit the last few days, but Thursday night we did something really fun and exciting at work - we launched our "Moonlight and Magnolias" dinner tour. I work as a docent at an antebellum historic plantation right in Gone With the Wind country - in fact Stately Oaks was the main inspiration for Hollywood's version of Tara - and we had a busload of visitors from northwestern Tennessee. We greeted them all in our period Civil War dresses, escorted them to the school house where they had a really classy dinner, then gave them a candle light tour of the Plantation house afterwards. Then, just after we finished the tour who should walk in but Scarlett and Rhett! Yes, we have Scarlett and Rhett impersonators who visit with the guests who then have their individual photographs taken with them (which we print up and mail to them in a nice folder). Scarlett flirted outrageously with the men and Rhett charmed the ladies. As they were leaving down the steps, Scarlett stopped to flirt with one of the men on the porch and Rhett continued on down the steps. When she called after him that he was rude not to wait for her, he responded of course with 'Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn!" Everyone loved it! As it is an expensive tour we wanted to make sure everyone had a great time and they all left having felt they got their money's worth. It was even fun for us - though we didn't get to enjoy that classy dinner:-).

That does sound like a really nice evening Kathryn, glad you enjoyed it too (it's nice that you enjoy other people enjoying themselves!).

As for us, how about Denny's!?

We had to go grocery shopping so off we went but were peckish so decided to stop in at the local Denny's for a quick sandwich. I'll just say it wasn't very good, well mine wasn't my Husband thoroughly enjoyed his hamburger.

Then on the way to Sobey's we stopped at Zellers, as it is in the same parking lot and I picked up a few things. I saw some nice light brown eyeshadow with a hint of sparkle, just Revlon, just 1 color - so I picked it up (price wasn't displayed) - scanned it to see the price $14.95? $14.95?

I bought Loreal in 4 colors not that long ago and I think I paid about that for the set.

Anyhoo, didn't stay long at Sobeys, just got the basics because I really am not a big grocery shopping fan.

As for the gravy - she used to fry sausages, use the fat from the sausages (hey this was pre me even knowing what a calorie was - ahh the good old days of childhood!) then she would use flour and milk to make it in to a gravy - then add salt and pepper.

It's nice you enjoy games Misa, I was a Sims person myself for a while and have a closet full of games but I lost interest, I wish I could find a game that I like.

Funny about computer games, I'm an avid gamer with Bee. Right now he's playing Oblivion, I'm playing a Sim-type game called Children of the Nile which has me rather hooked at the moment. ^_^

I actually tried playing the Longest Journey awhile back but couldn't quite get into it - maybe when I'm waiting for my EAD I'll pick it up again.

Sims was also a really fun game, I have the original in my games box and I was thinking about re-installing it on my computer again.

Reading this post brought me back to my last job. I was a historical interpreter at a 1914 living history museum in Ontario. I dressed up like I lived in 1914 every day and I was mostly either the General Store owner or the Post Office owner. We had visitors from all over the world and because the museums big thing was Christmas (our area of ontario has many large ethnic minorities that helped settled the area..mostly Germans and Mennonites.) Needless to say, for 5 weeks I did christmas specials for 12 hours a day. We also had night events like Lantern tours where we would light the pot belly stoves and shuffle groups of people at night around to see our little village at night. I loved it and hated it at the same time. My early 19th century shoes did not keep my feet warm!

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

Oh cool! I thought I was familiar with most living history sites in Ontario but I don't recall a 1914 one - that would be most interesting! Was that in the Kitchener-Waterloo area? My time-period when I still lived in Ontario was the War of 1812 although the Museums I worked at were more local history museums than time-specific. It has been a change here with the Civil War era and I am learning more every day about that time period. Oh, I hear you about the footwear - Civil War half boots are definitely not something you want to stand around in for very long either - and since we also dress completely accurately from the skin out (a minimum of 7 layers!) working in the summer heat gets very tiring:-). Still, I do enjoy it; my co-workers are really great, the site is lovely and I enjoy the opportunity to introduce people from all over the world to a little bit of the history of my new home.

Re: The games I bought yesterday.

I just quickly installed Evidence: The Last Ritual and it's unlike any adventure game I've ever played. It's interactive in the fact that you are sent "clues" and "correspondence" from people working on the case and the serial killer by email. Very cool!

I haven't started really playing any of them because I'm playing Day of the Tentacle (classic!). Recently finished Myst: Revelations and Gabriel Knight 3 (they need to make a GK4!).

Those games sound pretty interesting, are they anything like pong? :)

Actually my favourite game is half-wit, it's like half-life but for those of us who aren't too bright. :)

lol where do you come up with this stuff, you are funny.

Speaking of Historical displays - although it's a bit off the topic in a way - but hey mostly my stories always are.

We have Heritage Park Historical Village here in Calgary. I was speaking with them one day - I had found an error on their website I believe (they claimed they had the house from the earliest European settler in Calgary - which they don't - which I am personally interested in - but I digress).

Anyway, I was speaking to the Heritage Park woman and she said to me "well, he is the man named as the first European settler on Wikipedia".

Wikipedia!! So I explained to her that Wikipedia is an open forum and what she finds on there may not necessarily be 'true' - but I don't think she 'got it'.

Anyway, the info on Wiki has been corrected - and speaking of the Civil War, I have my GG Grandfather's civil war documents, including a transcript from his court martial for swearing at an officer - it's interesting to read and as there really aren't that many documents from those times that give you insight in to what a person was like, I'm glad I was able to find it.

Oh misa, that sounds like a cool game! Will definitely look it up.

I tried playing Uru (which is one of the games from the Myst series) but again, couldn't get into it - I think it was way too hard for someone like me to figure out. :D

For IR5FORMUMSIE, I also play Bejeweled on popgames which is good for us cracked nuts.

Here's a review for Evidence: http://www.adventuregamers.com/article/id,708

I haven't tried Uru but I breezed through the website. I know that Uru was supposed to be an online multiplayer game but the first one shipped as a standalone. It deviates a little from the original Myst games because it's 3rd person rather than 1st person.

Errr... okay, I am such a nerd. I shall stop talking about games now.

Um, at the garden centre yesterday we picked up seeds for peas, spinach, cauliflower and mixed salad greens. Hubby is out planting them right now. :)

Yes maaaamm. I grew up in the area of Doon in Kitchener and lived there until I went to school, then after I Went to school so I already had known so much about the museum. Have you ever been to Doon Heritage Crossroads?
