Try this recipe! It's nice and flakey. My first batch was a little tough but I totally overworked the flour.

I think there's pillsbury down here but I stay away from a lot of processed foods, especially here since there's so much damn ####### in stuff like high fructose corn syrup!

22 and a condo, eh? Wow, I wasn't that responsible when I was 22. I'm still not responsible... :P

So I just thought I would let everyone know that the sun is shining...it is harvest time where I live in North Dakota...the wheat is waiting to be cut ...soon it will
 That has me rolling on the ground laughing!!!!! You are an optomist. I HATE harvest time. It is the most stressful time of the year. Everyone is crabby, I don't see my husband. And if the wheat was waiting to be cut and it wasn't getting done.... :o that would not make for happy times around here. :P But on the positive note you want to hear.... The hubby finished harvest last week, so everything is good. :) Oh, Vnoe, love that you can make peace of it. Cheers!

Yes, the stress of harvest is flying. We have about 1300 acres of durum left....it has been raining and well you know what happens there. Glad to hear your hubby got it under his belt. I guess I'm lucky and get to see my man when he is out in the combine....I go for rides a lot, seems like it is the only time we can actually "talk"...lol

A man with a tape recorder up his nose.

Looks like I'm the only Monty Python fan here.

Anyone care to share some biscuit recipes?

Bradcanuck, white stuff has a different meaning in California. :o

sorry...I'm glad you caught on the Monty Python thing...that was what was in my head!!! lmao...I just had to get going to a football game yesterday and logged off before I had time to reply. I'm a HUGE fan myself.

Misa,

I would love to try your recipe....pretty please. I love biscuits...could do without the gravy though!!

Joel and I just got home from The Crimson Moon where we listened to some very good Celtic Rock music by our favourite band....Emerald Rose.

W just saw Emerald Rose last week at Dragon Con. Twice over the weekend actually, on Thursday night for early arrivals party, and on Friday night for An Evening at Bree (they're Lord of the Rings fan geeks ;) ). :D

We've been Emerald Rose fans for over a year now...but we haven't braved Dragon Con yet. Emerald Rose has put out a new CD of their comedy songs...some are a bit bawdy ;) but we absolutely love this band.

So I just thought I would let everyone know that the sun is shining...it is harvest time where I live in North Dakota...the wheat is waiting to be cut ...soon it will

Well, from this girl who buys wheat berries for pasta and bread making I sure do appreciate all those that harvest that wheat. I've been buying wheat berries for a few years now to make my own flour. Just wanted to thank y'all...or your husbands that is. :)

I'm usually not a fan of biscuits, but maybe I haven't had good ones. I refuse to have that white gravy stuff, or whatever it's called.

*helps Nini hold up BAN HFCS sign* No gravy here either, even though I love biscuits. Gravy makes me feel all icky just looking at it...well, except for Poutine.

how 'bout honey on them there biscuits.

As for the gravy OMG I may as well just pour directly to my arteries!!!

we also farm lentils...yummy. I make lots of stuff with them right out of the field. My twin daughters have celiac disease so they can't eat the wheat. It is kind of ironic I married a wheat farmer..lol

My Mom always used to make biscuits with 'the gravy' on the weekend when we were kids.

That white gravy is a fine art, I don't think I have ever managed to make it as good as she did.

I am not sure if this white gravy you talk about is the same white gravy I grew up on... we called it cream gravy...

my mom melted butter, sometimes with some onions and then added some flour and then added some milk or cream and salt and pepper...

For some reason, that reminded me of the stuffing we make for Thanksgiving.

Oooooo, butterball turkey... (L)
