Hi all

I applied for my EAD with my AOS, and I have a receipt notice dated 27 November 2005. In the new year, I started looking for work in Colorado, and have found a job. the issue is that I do not have the EAD card yet, and so therefore the company will not make me a formal offer.

Does anyone out there have a feel for the length of time EAD's are currently taking - I know the predicted timescale is 30-90 days, but I am keen to know how other cases are progressing, as mine is now passed 60 days.

Also, any suggestions on how I could expedite this process, as I have an offer that is contingent on the paperwork being completed.

Thanks for any advise you can give, Mark

Timelines often depend on whether you have your EAD biometrics already taken. If yes, then the "typical" approval timeframe is 60-75 days. If not (and it does happen often, including to me) you have to wait until 90 days pass from the receipt date. Then you can apply for an Interim EAD at the local office. If the delay is due to biometrics, then they often send you to have your bios taken.

BTW, post your timeline so that it's clear what step of the process you are in. It helps to know that.

Good luck and I hope you get the EAD soon.

Just curious, why does it take any longer for the EAD if you have had a biometrics appt.? We haven't received an appt. for biometrics as of yet.

Oops! Meant to say why would it take LESS time if you have received the biometrics appt. ? Just wondering if you can get the EAD without an appt. already made? Does this make any sense  ? I'm just trying to figure out if there is something we have or have not done . They haven't even "touched" the EAD request since 12/ 29/05.

All you can do is wait for the biometrics appt.

I would not say it takes *less* time if you do the biometrics, it just gets done *on time* (as soon as the Service Center approves it, they will mail it to you). If the biometrics are not scheduled, they will not mail it to you and you have to wait until 90 days from receipt are up. Does this make sense?

The most recent processing time for I 765 is 17 October 2005. The one before that had more recent dates as processing times for this type of applications.

What could the reason be for this fu.k-up by USCIS?

Any comments?

I am now a US citizen.

There was a discussion on this a couple of weeks back, and I think the conclusion was that nobody knows why and that we will never know, since the ways of USCIS are complex and obscure.
