Hi all!

Just wanted to let you know after various shuffling around, getting stuff sorted out over here, etc, we've finally booked our flights back to the US for September 25th! Simultaneously very happy and nervous - not so much about living in the US, more that I have so many possible career options which would literally be taking us in all kinds of directions, and so in that sense it's all very uncertain at the moment.

Still, for the moment, I've sent in my application forms to a few local Police Departments (who were kind enough to say that because I'd have my Green Card by the date of hiring, several months from now, they'd take my application now and I can do the written/physical etc tests in the meantime). I'll be chatting to the military recruiters too (especially the Coast Guard) and see what kind of options I'd have there...in any case it is very exciting and I look forward to letting you all know how it goes!

Best of luck to everyone else preparing to make the move across the pond!

Thanks for the best wishes from everyone!

Lansbury - At the moment, I've applied to Boulder PD (who would put me through an Academy, then straight to patrol work), and Broomfield PD (to work in the Detentions Division - but they will be sponsoring applicants for an Academy in 2008 I could apply for, and so transfer to patrol work).

I would apply to Jefferson County Sheriff's Dept (who I did a ride-along with last Nov), as they are very well funded and have loads of new "toys" to play with, but unfort as I won't be in the country before the 22nd (when the testing is), I have to wait for their July 08 Academy as opposed to the January one. Colorado Springs PD will be recruiting for an Academy next Fall as well, so they'll definately be on the list. Longmont PD would also be an option, but unfortunately they would only take my application if I was actually in the US at the time of applying, so I again have to wait for their 2008 Academy.
