Well I had a look at the new timeline statistics for the consulates:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...e-k1-historical

It's completely obscene that Montreal, being the main embassy for most of eastern Canada, is the slowest consulate out of every consulate listed in the western world. Vancouver, on the other hand, is the fastest consulate out of every consulate listed in the western world.

What's more obscene is that Vancouver is showing processing times of 10 days while Montreal is at 70 days. Obviously Montreal needs some help.

I should have filed mine to go to Vancouver. I could have walked the 2,700 miles from Toronto to Vancouver, done the interview, and walked back to Toronto, and it still would have been done earlier than filing through Montreal.

If you want the slowest consulate in the western world.. try Ciudad Juarez or Santo Domingo... you have to wait as long as a year to get an interview out of those places... I'm sure those people would give their right arm to trade places with you....

In reality 2 or 3 months isn't that bad... just relax and enjoy the ride...

Hello New to this wed-site but I thought I'd reply to your question.

I am Canadian, fiance is American. He filed Dec 27th (in Vermont I believe).

After all the paper work went back and forth I had my interview in Montreal Apr 4th and was approved basically immediately. I did not wait around to pick up the package and my passport. I received it by Expresspost this past Thursday ( Apr 6th). I actually thought that it was fairly quickly.

Good luck!

Sheesh, and I thought waiting two months from the sending in of packet 3 to my appointment date was swift! I sure wasn't complaining, seeing as it used to take 4-6 months.

Also keep in mind that Vancouver does not process nearly as many as visa applications as Montreal does (they don't do the IR-1/CR-1 ones, for example), nor does it offer the DCF option, which Montreal now does.

Frankly, I didn't mind the wait considering its one of the "easiest" and one of the more open consulates to deal with.

The moral that comes most to my mind when reading this is "I cried because I had no shoes, till I met a man who had no feet"

you realize some embassies have a year long wait. One example is domincian republic. It is one year even once embassy recieves petition. I believe the wait time at that embassy could more correctly be called "obscene" rather than monterals. current wait time of 70 days.

just food for thought.
