Can someone explain what role the VFS (ahmedabad in my case) plays when a completed file is sent to the mumbai embassy?

Does my wife need to submit all require ds-230 documents at the VFS or can she send all necessary papers to mumbai directly?

i'm just confused because I've never heard of going throuh VFS procedures...

someone please explain in detail.

thanks for the help

hello,,

basically, @ VFS you submit your required papers/documents about 10 working days before you interview. You get a receipt from them saying that they have accepted whatever documents. I guess, the idea is that people at mumbai go thru the docs before your acutal interview. however, for mumbai, the packet 3 you need to send directly to mumbai consulate. But for packet 4/required odcs you will submit them at ahmedabad VFS office. when you get your appointment letter, it will say in it that submit following to your VFS office no less than 7 working days and no earlier than 10 working days. neways hope this helps :) others can pitch in if I missed anything...

thanks...

so can you tell me more about packet 3 and 4?

like who receives them, when are they required, and what documents to include?

are they available online so that we can finish them ahead of time?
