Both forms are still acceptable with NVC. Get yourself familiar with this link

NVC Process Flowchart for CR1/IR1 Visa Applicants

DS3032 is on the first part of the process; while, DS230 will be the last part. Thus, you can not send both forms in right now.

Hi,

I think RandyandRina answered that above?

Any form that you download now could be changed at any time. If you are going to sign or fill out a form in advance, then when the NVC requests it from you you must double check on the Dept of State website that the form has not been replaced with a newer version.

No one can say if the DS-3032 you are going to sign and fill out today will still be valid a month from now - no one knows when they may change it. That said, you should still do it now and send it to him as it will probably save you a lot of time.

Hard to say as USCIS may come up with a newer form anytime. Wouldn't hurt tho to fill out and get one to hubby as even if they do they sometimes give the dates of older forms that are still exceptable. Edited by beckypua

Remember that there is also a barcode with your case # that will go on top of that page. You can follow James' shortcuts to find out how to generate it.

Just to clarify - the Barcode cover sheet is for the DS-230 (NVC will mail that to you), not the DS-3032 we were discussing later in the thread :)

Most official U.S. government forms must be periodically approved by OMB. In most cases, forms are approved for an extended period of up to 3 years without any change. The OMB expiration date you are concerned about is really more of a State Dept. issue than an issue for you; they are not allowed to distribute it after the expiration date unless they get an extension or a new approval (which happens 99.9% of time). An OMB expired form will normally still be accepted by the agency if the form has not been substantially changed in the new approval.

The DS-3032 form in question last expired 12/31/2006. However, it was approved by OMB for renewal without change on 12/12/2006. It currently is set to expire on 12/31/2009. See link below:

http://www.reginfo.gov/public/do/PRAOMBHis...mber=1405-0126#

The form I got in the mail from NVC in August 2007 still showed the 12/31/2006 expiration date. Therefore, you should be fine using the form that is available online at this time, unless and until NVC makes a substantial change to the form rendering older form unacceptable for its intended purpose (not likely to happen anytime soon).

The DS-3032 does need a barcode if you're downloading it from the DOS. There's a big space on top that says "Place Case Barcode Strip Here Before Mailing to the National Visa Center". The shorcuts on how to generate it and paste it to the DS-3032 are at the beginning of James' shortcuts.

Yes that is true, I meant the cover sheet. In order not to confuse the original poster:

DS-3032 - If you are going to download this form and send it in you will have to produce a barcode to attach to the top of the sheet per the instruction at the top of the downloaded form.

DS-230 - This form has a separate cover sheet page which has a barcode.

If you are not comfortable generating a barcode yourself (using James's shortcuts) then you can wait for NVC to send you the forms in the mail.
