Carbocisteine is not an antibiotic, it is a mucolytic taht is good if you have a productive cough with phlegm. But if you have a dry cough (maybe the infection is not in the lungs and could only be an upper respiratory tract infection? like a Post-nasal drip syndrome? or just a plain colds?)

Coughing is a natural thing and one of our natural defense against foreign matters/bacteria/virus. That's why you're coughing because the body wants to expectorate and get rid of the foreign matters.

If you have a cold/Post nasal drip and you take carbocisteine, this will make you cough more because that's the action of the drug, to soften the phlegm and make you expectorate it, hence more coughing.

If you have a dry cough and more of an itchy throat, I think it is more of a post nasal drip that is causing your cough and not cough from infections from the lungs (like bronchitis, Pneumonia, etc...).

If you want a cough suppresant, so you will no be coughing that much, better take Butamirate Citrate (Sinecod forte) 2-3x a day. Drink a lot of water -> water is the best mucolytic. Take Vitamin C as well.

If you have itchy throat (makati sa lalamunan kaya napapaubo) -> you may take any decongestants available but this can cause dizziness sometimes and don't take those with phenylpropanolamine/ or phenylephrine before your medical. Try taking Citirizine 1 capsule once a day, mostly within 3 days (if this is more of allergic in nature that's causing the post-nasal dripping), you will be fine. If not, better consult a doctor near your area.

God Bless!

Things bought over the counter in other countries may not necessarily be legal under U.S. laws. If you have any concerns and don't have a perscription I would definitely seek a medical opinion.

speaking of medicines, i am taking methotrexate since june for my psoriasis. does this med can take a bad impact on my medical exam and would result for the disapproval of my visa?

---------------

Methotrexate is classified as an antimetabolite drug, which means it is capable of blocking the metabolism of cells. As a result of this effect, it has been found helpful in treating certain diseases associated with abnormally rapid cell growth, such as cancer of the breast and psoriasis.

this really bothers me. :crying:
