Top of the evening to all of you! I would like to give all of you a review of my wife’s AOS interview held on 09/05/2007. The below is the chronological list of events of the morning:

1. The interview was scheduled for 8:50 AM in downtown LA so we had to leave the house around 5:30 AM (Live about 60 miles north). We thought it would take a long time on the 101 since it was a week day but, we reached there within 1 Hour. We found parking opposite the building in the public structure and were in the long line forming outside by 6:45 AM.

2. The line started moving pretty quick and we were in the building within 10 minutes.

3. We found our room number (on the 8th floor) and met a nice security guard outside. He advised that we are too early and should go back down but, also said that if we don’t talk to anyone and don’t come back and bother him then we can get sit in the room.

4. The room looks more like a big corporate training facility with around 100 seats for all kinds of people (We saw around 50 to 70) waiting to be interviewed. Surprisingly for us, pretty much everyone we saw brought a lawyer along with them. It got so bad at one point that it seemed that there were more lawyers than people in the room. LOL

5. We sat and just chatted along for about a couple of hours hoping that our turn would come sooner than the interview time (Not sure why we were hoping for that!). But, it was exactly 8:55 when her name was called.

Here is the list of documents we took to the interview and I will tell you later what they took from us:

• I-864 Affidavit of Support.

• Bank letter stating our names on our checking and savings account.

• Last three year’s tax returns.

• A complete Medical Examination and Vaccination Supplement (Redone because it had been one year since she had got it done in India).

• Proof of various kinds of Insurance (Health, Life, Vision, Dental) that shows both our names on it.

• Both our passports, birth certificates, marriage certificate, driver’s licenses.

• Around 50 photographs.

• My Naturalization Certificate.

6. The nice and tall 50 something Year Old Philipino man took us into his office in the back of a line of several of offices.

7. We went in, he told us where to sit (Who in which seat) and then asked us how are day was going? And, asked us for both our passports and my CA driver’s License.

8. For some reason, he started talking to me about Stock investments coz’ he came across some investment documents in his file on us. That is when he told me that he is an Accountant. Since I am a Financial Analyst, we hit it off immediately.

9. He was very friendly and we kept on having a conversation on where I worked and how did I like my work, my investment strategies etc….just general chit chat.

10. He asked my wife the following questions:

• Are you part of any organization?

• Have you been ever arrested, accused of a crime or been to court?

• Are you receiving any federal assistance?

• Where does she work and what does she plan to do?

• Any previous marriages or children thereof?

11. While we were chatting he asked me for the following evidence:

• 2006 Tax Return.

• Insurance paperwork and Bank letter to prove that we live together.

• A copy of our Marriage Certificate along with the original one that he returned.

• Made a copy of her passport and my Driver’s License.

• He DID NOT ask her any questions about me, he didn’t ask me any questions on her.

• NEVER asked for any photographs (Some people had up to 10 big albums with them in the waiting hall and I was telling my wife that if it is

photos that get you green cards than we have failed already since we only had 50 pics with us in a Walmart envelope…..LOL. We are not big

picture printout people. All our pics are on multiple home computers for backup purposes).

• He NEVER even asked us for the $500 Medical evidence. LOL!

12. He kept on writing stuff on various forms and papers while we were chatting (topics covering food, health, financial investments, tax, death

(yes, death) etc.

13. He took out a piece of paper (Looked like a canned letter), signed it, stamped it and gave it to us.

14. The letter stated “Congratulations new Permanent Resident……………………

15. He talked to us about the Conditional Period and told us that she should receive her GC within 30 days otherwise, we can come back!

16. We were out of there by 9:45 and on our way home!!!!!!

I hope this quick review helps you guys a little bit. Not sure if you will have a similar experience but, in the overall spectrum of experiences……this is one you can actually look forward to
