Because i read that it is optional to go both the couple or just the one that has the appointment ?

i going to go with her anyways, i am just curious if someone dared to go alone to the interview?

also ! if she gets the visa, God willing !! i going to let her come alone! is that a good decision ?

thanks for your inputs in advance guys !

They're both personal choices. I've heard of beneficiaries going alone to the interviews and getting approvals without any problems. Also, many of them are ok with coming to the US by themselves.

I personally chose to go to the interview with my husband to make sure there aren't any problems and to talk to the CO if he/she has any questions for me. I'm also coming back to the US with him after we get the visa (God willing) because I don't want him to deal with the hassle of immigration and connecting flight all by himself.

I dont know about this in Venezuela embassy as for lagos embassy the petitioner will never be allowed to go to the interview with the beneficiary.....I doesnt make a difference if you go or not, your presence will not make your spouse get the visa and vice versa.

Best Wishes,

Jamil.

the petitioner should be allowed into the interview-just like a lawyer or interpretor would be. If the consulate doesn't let you (the petitioner) into the interview room, demand to know why.

I went with my husband just to calm him down-and because Canadian interviews are in Montreal which is a beautiful city. I'm sure it would have been fine if he went alone.

In Manila consulate, fiance(e) or spouses are welcome to come in, but they will not talk to you (petitioner) at all.

In my own personal case, I will not be joining my husband for his interview. I will rather wait for him here and help him out with the adjustment such as obtaining SSN, bank acct, and driver license to get started his life in the US. I'm sure he can manage the 20-minutes interview, and he'll appreciate more the days for all other things that needed to be taken care of once he is here.

I'm with you Rina!! Likewise, I will not be accompanying my wife when she goes for her interview. I will wait for my wife here and start planning in getting together her SSN, driver's license, joining accts., etc.! With reading and talking to peeps here who have done the interview already without their spouse, I think my wife will be okay by herself.

We're almost there peeps....just a little more patient and trusting everything to God!!

God Bless everyone here!!

In Jamaica, they will ask the USC spouse questions in the interview. I prefer to go with him, just to be there for support, but I have faith that he can do it on his own. Thankfully, living in South Florida, the fares are relatively reasonable to fly to Jamaica and I have not used much of my vacation time, so I have close to 3 weeks left. I'm taking a week off when he gets here to get his SSN, add him to bank accts, etc.

Good luck to all those with upcoming interviews.

As you may have gathered from the responses so far, the answer varies a LOT from one consulate to another.

We have personal experience with the Caracas embassy. We went to the interview together. Yes, at Caracas, this is allowed, if not outright encouraged. We'd heard a few stories just before our interview about people who were denied when they showed up alone, only to have the USC arrange a quick trip to the embassy to straighten things out. So, being somewhat paranoid, in order to eliminate this possibility, I arranged to be there for the interview.

I don't know what it's like going through the interview alone, but going through together, it was a piece of cake. They could see us together, see that we had no language barrier issues, and see that the USC cared enough to fly to Caracas on short notice (no small effort there). They didn't question us at all on the bona fides of the marriage. We stayed together the entire time -- they didn't question us separately.

Everything at the embassy was conducted entirely in Spanish (some of the people could have spoken English, but they didn't have to for us), so the language barrier shouldn't present an issue for a Venezuelan at the interview. However, the experience can be pretty intimidating, and having a USC spouse nearby can be very reassuring for the Venezuelan spouse, in addition to any effect it may have on the interviewing officers.

I know that Caracas is not the easiest, safest, most comfortable place to visit. You have to make your own decision about whether to attend the interview. I have absolutely no regrets about deciding to go down there for our case. We have great memories of the day of our interview.

Well judging from inferences by family and friends that have been through the ringer before,

being with your spouse almost always shortened the length of the interview. As far as you being

with your wife or not during her trip to the states, I would highly recommend it. I recall one summer

I was returning from BD, and JFK in NYC is a Port of Entry. Well, to make a long story short, there

was a US Customs guard who was simply telling this German woman to sign some form. Here's the

kicker, the Customs Guard started yelling at the woman, in English, but slowly while tapping at the

paper where she's supposed to sign. The poor woman started crying and was yelling "Nein! Nein! Nein!",

which means no in German. Frantic, it seemed like she was yelling for help, and some gentleman behind

me said to the guard that he is a US German citizen and can help. The guard simply told him to butt out

and move on.

Befuddled and anguished, I left the site in sheer disgust. God know whatever happened to that woman.

I can only hope that someone taught that neanderthal Guard that yelling in English slowly does not equate

to another language. For if such holds true, then I am a master of linguistics and dialects of all ages, that

has found the secret link between all languages: English.

OK, so it wasn't that short, but I hope that your wife understands enough English, so that she is not made

to look dumbfouned or even scuttled by these semi-educated guards. Go get your wife dude,be with her

until you reach the footsteps off your home, I know she would remember that forever. Best of luck to ya!!

Alls I can say is I've been kicking around immigration forums for years and I've seen MANY petitioners regretting they hadn't been at the interview after the beneificiary was denied.

I've never heard of a beneficiary bitching about the petitioner being with them at the interview.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!
