Hi all i got my PRD the other day with no interview ? but its only valid for 2 years ? and has the letters CF1 under where it says Category. Why only 2 years and what does the letters mean does anybody have any ideas? Why no interview also ? I had finger prints takern at local office thats all.

Is the PRD my Green card ? I know its probubly a silly question but i thought it was. Andy

Well, I cannot see your timeline however, I believe it is because you have been married for less than two years. You were issued a conditional Permanent Residence card. In about 21 months you should have the conditions removed.

Your case was probably sent to the CSC for processing, and in some cases, there is no interview. You received a 2-year conditional GC, and in 2 years (less 3 months), you can apply for the 10-year Green Card using Form I-751.

CF1= status of a Conditional Permanent Resident who adjusted based on a fiancee visa.

It's a conditional green card... after 2 years you have ot apply to lift restrictions.

Why only 2 years

The Immigration Marriage Fraud Amendments of 1986(IMFA), Pub. L. 99-639 (November 10, 1986), were enacted to combat fraud perpetrated by aliens who marry only to obtain immigration benefits. The IMFA amended the Immigration and Nationality Act by adding a new section 216, which imposes an initial 2-year period of conditional residency on a person who acquired permanent resident status based on a recent marriage.

You can apply to remove conditions in 21 months. If successful you will get a 10 card. Good luck

Background

A lawful permanent resident is given the privilege of living and working in the United States permanently. Your permanent residence status will be conditional if it is based on a marriage that was less than two years old on the day you were given permanent residence. You are given conditional resident status on the day you are lawfully admitted to the United States on an immigrant visa or receive adjustment of status. Your permanent resident status is conditional, because you must prove that you did not get married to evade the immigration laws of the United States.

Now That You Are A Permanent Resident

Some of you may be CONDITIONAL RESIDENTS. This page applies equally to you while you are in conditional resident status. The difference between you and an unconditioned permanent resident is that your permanent resident status will expire in two years from when it was given, unless you successfully petition to have the condition removed. Those of you with conditional permanent residence either received your residence through a marriage relationship where the marriage was less than two years old at the time you became a Permanent Resident, or you received that status through an investment as an employment creation immigrant (EB-5). Yes it's your greencard... and almost everyone gets a two-year-one first. You have to send in some more paperwork to lift the conditions on it 90 days before it expires and then you'll get a 10-year GC instead. Congratulations!
