Can I travel inside the usa while waiting for AOS which I-94 already expired

No way would I get another ticket or pay some high fee to change it!

I have seen folks here whose tickets were in their married name while the passport was in their maiden name - they took their marriage certificate with them and had no problems. In fact, check out this thread:

Oh God! Thank you TracyTN. I'm almost in tears. This is our first travel together due to my husbands busy schedules. And yet it's a business trip also for him. I was in the process of checking online and the tickets are not available anymore. Thank you so much.. Hopefully, they wouldn't turn me away this tuesday.

Also, phone the airline and have a chat with them to ease your mind.
