Case completed, but no notification

Hi all,

It has been more than 8 weeks since husband's case was completed (July 9), but I haven't received a written notification from NVC since then.

Today I called the NVC, and the person who answered told me that I wasn't supposed to receive any notification since they still haven't scheduled my appointment at the Ciudad Juarez consulate (Mexico), that they will send me one (and a package) when they have the appointment date.

Shouldn't I receive at least a "notification of completion" or "case forwarded to the Ciudad Juarez's consulate by mail?

I'll appreciate any help with my question; I'm a little paranoic today.

As the rep told you, you won't receive any additional correspondence from the NVC until your interview has been scheduled at the US Embassy in Ciudad.

I will have my fingers crossed that you will be scheduled for your interview soon.

CR1/IR1 interviews in Ciudad Juarez take 12-14 months from the date received at the NVC. So you won't be hearing from them for a long time. :(

Interviews are scheduled the second week of the month. NVC assigns interviews based on the available interview times given NVC by the various embassys. If your embassy is very busy, it can be a long wait. If the embassy has time your wait could be short. Next week is the second week. By the following Monday you can call NVC and the operators will tell you if you were assigned an appointment or if you will have to wait another month.

In our case we were completed the last day of the August scheduling period. So..... next week is the first time we will be elgible for an appointment.

Fingers crossed ...prayers said.

That's great info - but since her case was completed 2 months ago and at her consulate there's a 12-14 month wait, she won't be hearing anything from the NVC for quite a while.

And since you are certain of the length of the backlog at her embassy...why not explain to her how she can find out the same information?

Thank you all for your answers.

I just wanted to know if there was something else I could do while I wait to make sure my husband's case is "active", and not just forgotten in a file somewhere, or lost in transit.

But, I guess I just to wait, and pray that it's not forgotten or lost.

Thanks again for your information.

Good luck with your cases

Maria

Maria,

Get involved in immigration reform. It is a good way to burn time. Work with a charity or just try to find a way to help others. The time can easily drag on and that nasty depression can set in. The time is short compared to the time you will have together.

Best wishes and Safe Journey
