Im travelling back to London to see my sisters wedding next month, im also waiting for my AOS to be approved which should be any day now.

My question is on my return to the states do i need to fill in I-94 card ?

Also can i go through the US lines at the airport instead of the overseas lines at passport control on return ?

Yes you will still need to complete an I-94 on your return... once you have your Greencard you will no longer have to fill out the I-94.... you will still need to go through the non-citizen line again until you are approved for AOS then you can use the Citizens/Residents line...

My husband also went through the citizens/residents line w/ AP. I don't think there's a hard-and-fast rule about that if you're in the nebulous AOS/AP category. If you and your spouse are traveling together, it's easier if you both go through the same line because you'll be taken to "secondary" so that they can process your AP. Your spouse can go with you and wait (or, depending on the airport, he/she can grab the luggage while you wait. Fun!). Both times that my husband traveled on AP, I was with him, so we just went up to the counter together. I don't remember if he needed the I-94. He filled it out just in case, but to be honest, I don't remember if it was required. In any case, at least it's a short form!

Annie came through the citizens line when coming back with the AP with no problems.

Sallie also came through the Citizens line a month ago. I travel a lot and I often hear GC holder being told to use the residents line. Ditto: to the I-94, you do fill one in.
