I am a U.S. Citizen by birth. My wife is from Latin America. She is currently in the U.S. on a tourist visa that she has had for several years before we ever met.

We filed an I-485, I-130, I-765, and I-131 for my wife in late July. We were unable to get the medical examination for the I-485 done prior to sending in the form because we wanted to beat the July 30 filing increase. I called USCIS customer service twice and talked to to different individuals who both stated that it wouldn't be a problem to send the I-485 without the medical. They said the adjudicating officer would ask for it later if needed. So, we went ahead and filed with a note explaining that as soon as we had the medical done and a receipt/case number that we would forward the medical examination results.

Late last week we received the receipt notices. So, now I'm thinking I'll just send in the medical examination results (in the sealed envelope from the dr.s office), along with a cover letter including receipt number, and a copy of the receipt (I-797).

My question is where to send it? We originally filed the applications with the Chicago Lock Box, but the receipt number starts with MSC (National benefits Center).

Or, should I wait for an RFE? But, I'd hate to not send it and have this cause us a few months delay while waiting for the RFE to be resolved.

Woldn;t it be better to send it now. If they send an RFE that seems like it'd slow everything down. If I send it now, at least they have it and aren;t waiting forme to mail it, or for their mailroom to sort through it.

No way to get it matched up to your petition without them requesting it (RFE)

If the petition gets transfered to CSC, they may send you an RFE, if the petition gets sent to your local field office for interview, they will ask you to bring it to the interview.

I suggest you wait for an RFE. Otherwise you run the risk of your package getting lost, and you'll never even know for sure that it got attached to your case file. Don't give yourself the extra worry of "what if it got lost". I would wait for the RFE.

Someone suggested that it might get rejected since I didn't send in the Medical Examination. But, I'm guessing that since they sent me a receipt that that means they accepted it.

If you got a receipt, it definitely means the application was accepted. They don't reject them because of a missing medical - they'll send you an RFE for that.
